Tired Players

It's stuff like Baines sticking his swollen feet into bags of ice as soon as he can that gets me. Ace commitment from him, but surely Moyes can say 'get your noses in front and i'll get one of you off for twenty minutes', without giving the incumbent an expansive roll beyond their experience/ability.

If a player isn't fully fit that's a whole new ball game.

I ask myself if Baines for example was given a couple of weeks rest because his body is carrying niggles and he would come back 100% fit, would that not be better than him playing at 80% every game and his form drop slightly?

Especially in Baines case as it's one area i feel we have a decent replacement, it's a quandary not easily solved as he's our best player.

One thing sports clubs do to determine tiredness(or whatever you'd like to call it???) is battery testing. So they'll get them all to sprint say 30 metres and then record the time. From that they'll then re-test periodically and judging by the difference in times(this is amongst other test BTW) they will determine what condition the athlete is in. Mental fatigue is a different thing althogether but both are real and thats why clubs spend fortunes monitoring them.

Let's call it fatigue then for the purpose of this thread. I just don't think any of our players should be suffering we simply haven't played enough games. In comparison to say chelsea who potentially could play nearly 70games.

I think for the amount of games we have to play a first fully fit 18 players should suffice without them fatiguing.

Spurs played 2 days ago and then ran us all around the park today

So no, our fellas shouldn't be suffering from fatigue.

Osman. No legs absolutely awful.

Baines is not playing at 100%. Been an average left back for the past 6 weeks. Just my observation.

I don't agree they should be able to pl;ay 45 games a season, if we were playing 60 i could understand it.

Why do you get to decide how many games they can play before it affects them?

Of course they can. Can they keep the same tempo or pace etc? No. Its why all the top teams rotate and have big squads.

Exactly. They could play 100 games a season if they had to, but they wouldn't play at the high level needed of them for those 100 games. The more games you play the more likely hat tiredness/fatigue/ whatever you wanna call it is gonna make a difference.

Look at Osman today, he clearly was unable to keep up the perfomance level needed despeite the fact he played the whole game and could play another one on Wednesday if he had to but the performance would be as poor. Whereas if he'd have been rested the last week he would have put in a better performance today.

We have gotten 10 of the last 12 pts available. How is it that the players are tired?
