RIBA do walking tours. The only place outside of London to have them, they'll talk you through the history of the buildings in Liverpool. The buildings are a huge part of the story and it's a real feeling of being involved when you know more about them. Would recommend going to St Georges Hall if you get the chance as well, also the India buildings are fairly spectacular inside.

Ferry is a good shout, hopefully you'll have a good weekend for it. The view from the top of the Anglican is one of the best in the city, with the walk up being almost as spectacular.

If your here overnight as I suspect you are, see if they are doing a Shiverpool tour that evening. Ghost tours about the more murky history of the city, including the story of the real Doctor Duncan who the famous Liverpool pub is named after.

I thank you all for your more or less good ideas :)

Anyone tried the footgolf? Bowring or Aintree. Which is best and easiest to reach?

Obviously the sites in town are good but there are other places on interest that you can visit, Speke Hall is good, Formby Squirrel woods or whatever they're called, Penny Lane, Wavertree and Woolton have some good sites for the Beatles that even a youngster can enjoy. There's also some good restaurants round there, that are better and cheaper than the ones in town, also there's an old Scandinavian church in town if your interested in that. A lot of the museums are well worth a visit, plus I think on some nights they take you to the top of the Anglican Cathedral.

From town probably Bowring, just get the train from Lime Street to Roby and you're there. I've only ever done Aintree so I'm not sure which is best but the Aintree one is situated right in the middle of the racecourse which is cool.

Ha. Stadium tour now back on. Two sessions added Sat 13. :)

Do all that but, if you include a ferry ride, you can go to 'Spaceport' (or whatever it's called), it was good when I went to it?

Plan for now:
Arrive Thursday night - some food (and drinks for me) :) - A good nights sleep at the Novotel
Friday: Ferry and maybe Spaceport. Arrive early at Goodison to walk around and take in the atmosphere
Saturday: Stadium Tour and Footgolf at Bowring
Sunday: its Sunday - leaving late afternoon

Should we do the Beatles Story or Magical Tour?

For me, I would say Beatles story at the Albert docks and then stroll over to the museum of Liverpool just along the front.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your Lad and that it isn't your last over here. Enjoy the city, and of course the game.

It is not our first trip and it will not be the last. My 4th and his 2nd to Goodison. Also been at Anfield, Craven Cottage and in Lille :)

Just strange how much time you have when you not base the trip on pubs and alcohol.....

Confirmation done - and we're ready for a fantastic weekend on Merseyside:)
