Time for Moyes to start using his squad?

Dont agree with this at all. I think Jelavic was playing average, Anichebe was coming off the bench and proving he was worth a starting place and has took his chance well.

Heitinga was benched, got his opportunity and played woeful, Moyes stuck with him and he was woeful again.

Gueuye had chances to shine and failed, a half fit knackered Pienaar is still miles better than him.

Didnt think Hitlesperger did a lot wrong against Reading or Norwich, suprised he didnt feature against Oldham

In all fairness, if Hibbert and Coleman where fit Heitinga wouldnt have got a sniff.

in all fairness after 2, 3 or 4 mistakes, duffy should have been given a go. Instead heitinga was persistantly picked and cocked up again at WBA, again at villa 3 times and again at united.

If your backup is playing crap, you give another backup a chance, regardless of age - it's not rocket science really

I can see the local boys leaving as well. They only need to look at Akpan, Baxter, and Wallace, and see that they can get first team football albeit at a lower level.
Frustrating as hell seeing these young players, show signs of promise and then are dropped and never seen again.

It seems to be getting to the stage where players like Ruddy, Forshaw, Baxter and Wallace are choosing to leave because they'd rather be playing regularly at a lower level than waiting forever for their chance with us. Duffy, Bidwell, Garbutt, Vellios, Junior, Gueye and McAleney must all be weighing up their futures. The amount spent on recruiting, developing and paying them must run into millions and we'll most likely see little or no return when they leave. I suppose Anichebe and Coleman breaking through and the money we received for Rodwell makes it worth it but when you consider that United are able to produce the likes of Evans, Cleverley, Welbeck and Fletcher I'd like to see more players stepping up from the Academy.

I agree that Moyes could probably use his squad a little bit more than he does. The team hasn't been performing at the level it was earlier in the season for a good few months now, and some of the regular starters look exhausted (most notably Osman).

A good team can carry one or maybe two lower quality players, especially when facing inferior opposition, but it's down to the manager to be sensible about how and when he rotates. Moyes tends to throw a handful of fringe players in all at once and then discard them again when that doesn't work (i.e. the last Anfield derby and the debacle at Leeds earlier this season), and so we end up seeing the same 13-14 players carrying the load throughout the entire season.

You only have to look at how many Manchester United and Arsenal youth products/squad fillers qualified for league winners' medals before going on to play at a lower standard to see that it's possible to get something out of lesser players as long as you're clever about it. The likes of Luke Chadwick, Ronnie Wallwork, Igors Stepanovs, Chris Wreh, Jordi Cruyff, Darren Ferguson, Oleg Luzhny and Richard Wright all have medals at home despite being ****e, and our own Phil Neville can call himself a genuine treble winner.

Comparing Uniteds Youth policy with Evertons is slightly unfair.

They cherry pick the best Youngsters from all over the world and im fairly sure their list of "failures" is HUGE.

If I was talking about building teams around youth players I'd agree that it'd be unfair to compare the two clubs, but I'm just using United and Arsenal as examples of clubs that have shown an ability to get 8-10 solid if unspectacular performances out of kids/backup players.

Yeah but that Cleveererely is utter tosh and dont even get me started on Welbeck.

Who has the nicest hair in football do you think?

No contest.
