Time for a rest .......

Notice how many through balls we actually played for him to run on to yesterday?

Sure, he was offside on most of them but he wasn't getting that kind of service when Felliani was playing because we weren't playing that way with him in the team.

I predict he'll get 2 goals against Wigan unless we have 8 defenders on the pitch.

He might do, but it wont have anything to do with Fellaini not being there.

It was blocked because he didn't lift the ball off ground level. The defender got a toe on it to divert it away. That was a gilt edged chance.

He was having to slide in and beat the defender to it at the same time mate. Difficult skill to do, especially in the closing stages of a game. He had an off day. Look at Rooney today. He was awful, but I can guarantee he'll play their next game. He needs to be played through poor form. Dropping him to stew on the bench won't help his mind frame.

He'll get six on Boxing Day ;)

Did you not think we played a different style in the final 3rd yesterday?

With Fellaini we play either a direct ball to him or get it down either wing to play it in to the middle, whereas yesterday we still went wide but rather than mix it up with long balls to Fellaini we played through balls for Jelavic to run on to.

If he didn't live offside he might have scored one.

He's had 47 shots in 17 games 16 on target and slotted 6, that's not Fellaini's fault, that's poor striking.
Some were very difficult but plenty were acceptable chances that last year he would of buried.
He'll get his mojo back : Last season... 38 shots, 18 on target and 9 goals... in 10 games several of which had Fellaini up front I believe.

Yeah i'm not saying its all Fellainis fault, its clearly not. Just that yesterday was one of the few times i can remember us actually attempting to play through balls for him as an obvious tactic, and that i put down to not having Felaini to hit.

The players had a choice, give it to Victor or play it around him.

I think yesterday proved that he cant play off the shoulder, hes born offside.

Boss slotter tho.

I dont think it matters if Fellaini is there or not.

MOST of the time, if you give him a sniff he will slot, but at the moment hes a little off his game, not quite sure thats Fellis fault really.

But he missed them all mate. There is something wrong with him this season that has nothing at all to do with our formation and style of play.

I never bought that his lack of form was Fellaini's fault and I still don't.

Definately has had an effect on him.

Fellaini is sitting on the chest of both centre halfs. Its not as if hes playing in the hole. Hes actually playing as a centre forward with another centre forward all of a yard behind him. Thats the problem.

However I think It eould do Jelavic a world of good having a rest. Coming off the bench could get him a few goals and get his confidence back.

He had two really good chances yesterday which he should have buried. However sometimes the run of the ball just doesnt go for you. Last year everything he touched turned to goals

Jelavic has to start. In a way, that's our problem. The other top clubs in the Prem can perm any two strikers from 4 or 5. We don't have that luxury. So Jelavic has to deal with all the pressure and all the physical wear and tear. For me, the key thing to do in January is to bring in another striker who can give Moyes that extra option.

Got a feeling he's going to find his form today. All i asked santa for was for jelavic to start firing. I've just replaced tevez with him in my fantasy team as a demonstration of my faith. I still believe!

So what's the alternative? Rest him? Big Vic got a goal today, but he's far from fit and far from the quality of Jelavic. Vellios is no where near ready to lead the line.

I understand what your saying mate. I don't believe in flogging a player to death, but there's a difference between being tired and jaded, and being out of form. Jelavic is just out of form.

I know? I was just saying that it's been said before, and he still isn't in form...nothing more nothing less

I thought Big Vic looked like he was up for it against West Ham, ****er still needs a kick up the arse and to get his head straight but I wonder if resting Jelavic and giving Vic the starting role may do the pair of them so goood. Jelavic is totally off form and please, please no more mention of Naismith in there to help him as he is a liability and IMO only serves to remind Jelavic that they may not be as good as they think they are.
