2025/26 Tim Iroegbunam

He's the one we need to give as much time and patience as necessary IMHO as he's got the full package when it comes to emerging midfield talents.
If Moyes sells him in the Summer it will be a mistake that comes back to haunt us.
Yep...night and day compare to rohl...has to be given a new contract ASAP and try somehow to get ourselves out of that mandatory purchase option on the German, even if we have to pay something.

Tbf, out of all the ‘fringe’ midfielders, he seems to be the one Moyes trusts most and turns to when either gana is out, or garner is moved to full back, so that’s promising

As I mentioned it’s a real shame he got the injury when he did, Moyes probably still would have dropped him for gana, but there’s a better chance he would have kept his place over likes of rohl and Armstrong following afcon

Someone posted a transcript of the bobbles latest podcast and apparently Rohl took himself off back to Germany for a hernia op (I can understand this as there are some very good sports doctors over there) however it appears he didn't inform the club. It's a bit naughty tbh but you can imagine how that's gone down with Sgt Maj Moyes, he won't have liked that one bit.
If true, it's ridiculous.

You can't not inform your club of something like this. Equally if true, its laughable EFC's dialogue with the player didn't result in an agreed plan for where / when he'd prefer the procedure.

Undecided on Tim. Overall, I don't think he's good enough, no assists, no shots. MF's HAVE to do this, even if their role is too primarily block/ break position moves.

I fundamentally don't get this position anyway. What Southgate even once labelled ' the Kalvin Phillips position'. Wtf? Who?

Every good deep lying midfielder I rate was a threat both ends. I'm not expecting EFC to land a legend like Rodri, Viera, Pirlo etc, but even players like Souček ( who's now past it or our own Fellaini) could do this previously.

So Tim must add that threat to his game or he's just a squad-filling blocker when we're defending.

The great irony being: when you carry zero forward threat your team inevitably needs to do a lot more defending! Even Gana gets forward more.

Give Tim next season to develop, then we'll know.

Definitely something there. Needs his role defining rather than “just play next to Gana”. He’s a puzzle for those who like to classify their midfielders as a 6, 8, inverted 8.5 or false 10. Just runs around.

Lots of teams in the PL doing well with a squad full of Tims. Athletic, fit, mobile, bit random at times. Probably won’t see him again til November.
His stats for keeping the ball, possession, passing and creating chances are quite poor and put him in the bottom half of prem midfielders. Probably would do
Well in a teams that’s not that bothered about having the ball, problem is you loo at the top teams and they all have the ball more than they don’t. If he was a brilliant defensive midfielder with them stats, you could probably get away with it, not as a number 8

Armstrong is the one, he’s way ahead of Tim at the same age and will go on to be a much better all round midfielder
Like I mentioned his passing stats aren’t great. Again this only what I heard on a podcast. Apparently he had a 78% pass completion v Arsenal and only
Made 29 passes, gana I think was 88% for 44 passes.

Well that’s no true really, Rhol has probably only had 3 or 4 starts in his right position. And had 2 injuries which hasn’t helped , his last start was against a team with the best home form in Europe at the time and he looked very good in that game. The 2 issue for me is if we want 30/35% possession every week and be a physical tough big side, then yes Tim is great.
if you want you to have more possession and you want your midfielders to create chances, be great at passing, getting assists and a few goals, then he’s most likely not the man you want in your midfield.

Similar to doucoure, great under dyche,
Not so great if you want to play a bit more football

He can tackle which is the number 1 priority for Moyes.

He was very good against Arsenal but I suppose that is the conundrum with the lad, he's capable of very good performances but also capable of absolute stinkers and it's almost impossible to predict which version you'll see. Within two minutes of the match starting you do know, however. If he starts well, he'll be decent all 90, if he doesn't he rarely grows into the game. Very frustrating player.
