FWIW I don't want to sell him and he is useful, but people are overhyping a limited player here.
A limited player with room for growthFWIW I don't want to sell him and he is useful, but people are overhyping a limited player here.
He was unbelievable against Forest too.He was far & away the best player on the park in the 1st half vs Wolves and showcased what he has in his locker when applying himself. His stamina & consistency are questionable too though. He’s the only midfielder we have with the ability to bulldoze through midfielders with the ball and he gains good yards, we just don’t get to see it often enough.
When he first signed I actually thought he looked really tidy. Strong, able to run with the ball etc - not too dissimilar to what we hoped Onana would develop into.He has, but he's also inconsistent and has shown his signs of improvement when subbed on for the last 20 or against utter turd opposition.
Yeah, "there's a player there", but that player is the most average of average for the PL. Right now we need that, but if he doesn't progress towards being better very fast, he's just not gonna be anything more than squad filler.
Feels a lot like people are looking at the 2 games where he did okay/very well and just ignore the previous 10 or so when he was abysmal.
Can you list the 10 games where he was abysmal this season please? He was really poor against Newcastle but that was about it I think. He was great against Brighton, he was great against Bournemouth and Forest away. He was very good against Arsenal at home and he's made a number of excellent sub appearances. When he plays well he's one of our best players. Unfortunately he has the occasional shocker but that can happen to young players in midfield. He has, but he's also inconsistent and has shown his signs of improvement when subbed on for the last 20 or against utter turd opposition.

It’s called making a profit and buying better. Let’s have it right, TIm will be 23 next season, not old I know, buts it very unlikely he starts in midfield. Garner and KDH are a guaranteed 2. SoOn the one hand we say we want to discover talented young players out there with obvious potential, who are already suited to the PL.
On the other hand once we've signed one for a low fee, a fair number want to sell sell the same player before discovering his potential, and would seemingly prefer to give the proceeds to our recruitment team to unnecessarily gamble on finding another one.
Why?
Why indeed? I don't remember any clamour to sell Garner who cost more than Tim and has also taken a while to find his feet.On the one hand we say we want to discover talented young players out there with obvious potential, who are already suited to the PL.

The manager complains about having a small squad, and the manager rates him. He's young for a cm, and Moyes often plays young central players out wide rather than trust them in the middle, but he hasn't with Tim. That speaks volumes. You may not rate him, which I understand, but can you show me an entire squad of any PL club where all the players are all rated by its fanbase? I don't really rate Keane or Patterson but I'm very happy to have them in the squad. It’s called making a profit and buying better. It comes down to to what the manager wants. If he wants to replace Gana with a proper number 6, as I don’t think
That’s Tim role. Or he plays garner and KDH as a midfield 2 and gets a new number 10.
We’ve committed 20 mil to Rhol for the summer and we have young Armstrong. We seem to have quite a few box to box midfielders. So selling TIm for 20/25mil wound give us a big profit to go and buy a top class number 6 or 10.
Think garner was 9 and Tim was 10Why indeed? I don't remember any clamour to sell Garner who cost more than Tim and has also taken a while to find his feet.
You say he rates him, he’s mainly picked him when he’s had nobody else available. At times we had 4 midfielders and Tim was on the bench, Moyes even brought Rhol on before him off the bench a couple of times before Rhol has his injury. The manager complains about having a small squad, and the manager rates him. We haven't been offered £20/25m anyway, just a rumour of €18m, so a sale now is unwarranted on several grounds.
