Tim Howard

And also, at that point Matic has just took his shot, prior to him lining it up Howard was even further back but had moved forward to the position in that pic as he took the shot.

The debate is about some modern Keepers standing constantly on their six yard box, nothing to do with TH being able to save the shot!
fair enough. like you said it just seems to be the way things are done nowadays across the board. Everyone wanted Begovic to come here and the last two goals he gave up to naismith wouldve caused outrage on here if Tim did the same. Outside of very few keepers (like de gea, neuer, etc) all keepers these days are going to have errors in them. That being said I don't think there was anything wrong with Howards positioning on
Matic's shot.

If you notice it must be a modern trend as how often do you see a keeper tip a ball around the post for a corner they are that far out they seem to palm or punch it anywhere, its a modern trait in keeping I have noticed.
If you were an out field player with a decent shot on you to see a Keeper stood six yards out it worth a go they may go in row Z or if lucky it will fly over the Keeper head its a goal or if its a daisy cutter on the deck the space is bigger ok!;)

2nd goal from Naismith he is way out of position his dive is flat on the six yard box ok!

Lol, he's about 4-5 yards out when Naismith shoots.

Of course he might end up on the 6 yard line after he's dived but thats's not a problem, you generally dive slightly forward.

Unless thats my comp playing up again :D

Sure, he could be a little bit further back, say about 3 yards min off his line but anywehere between 3--5 yards for a starting position is ok, difference just comes down to the keepers personel preference really.

Go to spec savers!lol oh yes a shot comes in and he dives forwards he is on his six yard box when he lands hence my claim totally out of position if he had been central further back tipped around for a corner thank goodness he was in the wrong position- for a left footed daisy cutter pinpointed into the corner thank goodness he was rubbish on the 2nd and 3rd goal!;)
