Tim Howard

So you think he shouldn't fecking come out 2 meters and collect a ball travelling in front of him? Okay mate.

He came out and punched it, it was a good ball in, well whipped. In an ideal world he would catch every thing in his area... If he had tried to catch it and it fell at the feet of the striker everyone would have said she should have punched it.

Butland stopped nearly any cross that went near him, or at least managed to get it away from the box effectively. What I'm trying to say, and I think I replied to your post and you kind of ignored it earlier, is that Howard's decision making is extremely poor, and he's supposed to be the experienced player. Also, the keeper is essentially half your defence and is more or less responsible for keeping it organised - why is it that it's absolutely never organised when he's in the nets?

Also, as a comparison between Butland and Howard - Butland is 22 and a first team regular, having played about 140 games in various leagues, with this being his first full season in the Prem.

Howard is 36 years old, with supposed tonnes of experience from his 320 games for us alone, and has also been in and around the highest levels of club football (Man United before that, with SAF as well) for about a decade. How can he not know keeper basics then? Or how can he not actually make the basic things?

IMO he can't be blamed for the 1st at all, and as for the 2nd - he could've tried to sprint back, but it was a ridiculous shot on goal and it went in, world class strike, not much to do there. Where was he on the 3rd or 4th, with both goals being just about in his 6 yard box?

Well the fourth was a penno that shouldn't have been. The third is the only debatable one and in my opinion he didn't obviously do a good enough job but I would have expected most keepers to do the same. It was a good touch from Joselu and finish, but Coleman could equally have blocked the cross and someone should have closed Joselu down/marked him as the ball came in. So for Howard to take the full blame is wrong.

I agree we are in need of a new keeper but I just cannot stand the amount of abuse Howard receives week in week out. It is massively detrimental to him and the team, especially when it is largely unwarranted in certain cases, today in my view is such a time. The crowd ironically cheered him when he caught a cross, what does that bloody send through his mind, get behind the lad a bit.
