Tim Howard

I think some of you are being awfully picky, especially considering the result. Why was the cross allowed to come in in the first place? Lots of other factors. Let it go for a week lads.

Cross came in because Coleman was isolated ( normally Stones or McCarthy would be helping out ).

Mori could have done better.

Howard could have done better.

Collectively, it was poor defending.

I'm one of his worst critics Pete but I think at a point when the ball is out wide he takes a step back on his line and at that point he was never going to be able to come out and get the ball. Therefore he's hoping Funes Mori gets it but for whatever reason he's beaten in the air when he shouldn't have been. IMO that's FM ball to clear.

Thought he had one of his better games of the season did Howard, though I was very surprised at how little Sunderland really tested him with those crosses into the 6 yard box.

When that shot hit the post in the first half, he didn't actually move.......I may be a bit picky here but a better team could have battered us.......

Not being picky there mate that's absolutely spot on. If that had gone out the bazookas would have been out for him let alone the knives!

The double save he made was a lot better plus the save at the end where Whatmore tried to chip him as he usually goes down too early.

I'm still firmly in the camp he simply isn't up to it but every game where there isn't a howler (or at best a howler which isn't punished ) I will take that and run ;)

Anyone know what was said to Tim to make him shout shut the [Poor language removed] up at someone in the first half?
I think somebody telling him that he should've give Coleman a shout to let it go out for goal kick instead of letting him head it back into play.

Have a a look at sunderlands second goal. Tell me he shouldn't be claiming that, it's in his 6 yard box!

Show me a keeper who comes for that cross from that position. if he's farther off his line it opens the near post and if he's beaten there we're all slating him. That cross was in a perfect position for Sunderland, not Tim's fault there. he was actually decent today IMO, including his distribution.

He's not good enough, he needs replacing but he did OK yesterday and getting on his back clearly does no one any favors. It's not great if our own fans are distracting our keeper, no matter how bad he's doing.
