Tim Howard

What, the keeper who was a complete breathe of fresh air in goal last Season whilst Howard was injured and got 3 clean sheets in a row, something Howard couldn't muster up? That Robles?

Christ the clean sheet thing has been done to death Mart. What about the other 3 games, or the getting smacked in the chops? Of the walkabout against Krasndor and the mini adventure in the Derby?

Ha ha ha, like that time last season he told all the fans to pipe down. Tim the ego needs to jog on. Modern players thinking they're untouchable at a club like Everton.

I don't have a problem with him backing himself and trying to justify himself, but it seems a bit pretentious to say that all the critics are wrong when he must know himself that he's been terrible. I hear Martinez talking about what a fantastic professional he is but that's not the most professional of statements in my opinion.

I'm struggling to determine whether its confidence or a tad undermining to fans who are allowed to criticise when someone's been below average. Leaning heavily towards the latter.

It's only confidence when you can back it up. That's just misplaced arrogance coming from someone who's unwilling to admit his performances are below par.

Speaks volumes to why Martinez won't drop him, for me he's worried as he knows only too well the arrogance of the man wouldn't accept it gracefully and being a big character in the dressing room could cause unrest. I'm certain after Distin and Eto'o last season and the effects it had on the morale, Martinez will try avoid these types of confrontations as much as possible, despite it being much needed.
