It's really not though.

Disagree mate, Robles certainly isn't the long term solution in my opinion, but he is the in-form goalie at Everton. Or rather, he isn't the out-of-form goalie at Everton. He responded well to his chance last season, and he made some decent saves in the week suggesting that he'd respond well again.

Even the mighty Southall had to step down in the end, Howard is no different. He may not be at the very end, but do you agree that his form is seriously slipping? If you do, then ask yourself what your thoughts would be if a midfield player, who we'll call Bareth Garry, was played week in week out regardless of current form?

Then how come he's clearly second choice to Howard?

As all football managers know their careers are defined by the results they get, why would he not play his best players when fit? He's shown in the past that he's prepared to make tough decisions for the good of the team (Eto'o and Distin for example) so it's not about a perceived weakness some have alluded to. Neither is it likely to be about a loyalty to one over the other seeing as Martinez has twice invested both money and faith in Robles in the past. It's simply a footballing decision and an out of form Howard is still superior to an inform Robles in the managers eyes, that's the message Martinez has been putting out since he brought Howard back into the team after his injury last season.

As for the Bareth Garry question it holds no comparison. There's all kinds of possibilities and combinations for out field players should their form drop, but you'll always need a goalkeeper and there's only one viable alternative to Howard at the moment.

Howard is a liability and should be dropped simple as that.
We have 2 keepers not good enough for the premier league and at the moment joel is slightly better.

The poll closed weeks ago no point having an opinion on it now, you bottled it last time and the ships sailed.
I gave my opinion an said they are both cack with joel a little better.
Do you not understand or do you want it translating into another lanuage.
Are you off to the park today to fly your kite little dougall

RM described Joel's game against Norwich as 'incredible'. In Spanish the same word is'increible'.

In English the word means astonishing, so outstanding so as hard to be believed; in spanish it means 'not good enough yet'. Funny that, innit?

You refused to vote if I remember correctly, now it seems after a couple of weeks you've decided to jump on the little bandwagon for Robles. How it took someone so long to give a definitive answer when there were only two options I'll never understand, you must be a nightmare at McDonalds.

Martinez knows both players inside out and sees them everyday in a professional environment, he knows who's the best one.

I understand that viewpoint, and it may well be right, but it is hard to fully subscribe to when the preferred goalkeeper is flapping all over the show and the other one is very good in the match he finally gets a crack in.

I gave my answer an said joel.
I take it you keep boring on about it because you realise you have become the forum joke the way you go on about how great howard is.
After watching him this season you actually sound insane with your comments.
Bet your a nightmare in the playground at schhol.

To be honest I think to much emphasis has been placed on the Norwich match myself, all the saves he made were straight forward and you'd have expected any goalkeeper to make them. The Norwich match helps people gloss over how he was poor in the previous round to Barnsley for their goals.

I keep seeing @Dithering Dougie being lumbered with this.
All he has said is that in his opinion Howard IS THE BETTER CHOICE THAN ROBLES. An opinion what's more, that is agreed with by our professional manager who sees them both in training every day.
Disagree with Doug all you like, it's your prerogative, but how can it be that laughable an opinion when there are plenty others who agree!
It's all a bit childish imo.
