Nobody's said there's a right it's about choosing the best player.
It would not matter if Barry had been crap he would still go straight back in exactly like howard.
Barry could be garbage for the next couple of games and he would still get 90mins.
Howard has been garbage for years and still gets 90 mis.

Martinez honestly said Howard is back in on Sunday? That's abysmal from our manager. Disgusting. Robles, who obviously isn't that much better but still marginally better than Howard, should be out of the door asap. He must know he'll never get a proper chance under Martinez. I wonder why Martinez wanted to sign him in the first place?

It's not even about that. I mean, obviously you should choose the 'best' player, but it's also about sending a message. If Howard is dropped, the manager will have the support of the majority of the fans in the decision to drop him. It would also send a message to all other underperforming players, for example McCarthy who seems to just jog around the pitch and not bother tracking any opposition players, that if they continue in such a poor vein of form, they'll also be dropped too.

Martinez is just spineless.

Erm, surely by not dropping Howard and sticking by his best goalkeeper even though you claim the majority of fans want him dropped Martinez is showing the exact opposite of "spineless".

He's showing strong leadership I'd say in fact.

Howard going straight back in leaves a very bad taste.

It puts massive pressure on an already under pressure player.

As mentioned before, if he makes a mistake things will go very ugly.
