Why
In my 40yrs as a fan bringing Howard back in to the team on Sunday if it happens
Is the most ridiculous mangement decision I've ever

Can't wait till he's gone now lost all faith in the guy
And if he's this stubborn then there will only be outcome
I personally don't think there's much in it between Tim and Joel. We need a new number one keeper end of story. Joel is certainly not the answer to our problems, Only last week he flapped at a cross conceding a goal for the U21s in such a way Tim would have never heard the end of it. Yet tonight, he does a bit of shot stopping (the bit the Tim is good at still even now) and people want him in as number one.

Joel is a keeper, he will have known it was just for one game, he knows he's not first choice. It will have been no surprise to him to hear that Tim will be back in goals on Sunday.

Yes mate he's utter tripe
So, then, serious question. How many really good matches in a row would Howard have to have for the fuming to die down? Four clean sheets in a row? Five conceded in ten? Is there anything at all that would change the mind of some of the die-hard Howard-is-the-worst-keeper-in-history people around here?

Not that I'm expecting it to happen, mind you. Just curious.

He has been good for us, but it is time to let go. He has done so well as a professional footballer because of his self belief and his physical talent. Unfortunately, we all grow into old arses and we need to accept, at some point, that we are not what we were as young men. Tim`s self belief is still there - his talent is not. He cannot physically do what he could in the past. It`s sad, but understandable, that he does not want to accept it. I do have an issue with what Martinez has stated tonight and the fact that he does not see what is obvious to many. RM is a "scholar" of football. How can he not see it????

So what happens if Howard keeps a clean sheet on Sunday? Will people still be calling for him to be shot?

i've been doing it for a year and a half, a clean sheet against the team who will probably finish bottom this season won't sway my mind. Today is what we saw most of the keepers in the premier league do on a weekly basis. howard has become really embarassing, every team will target him more and more each week.

Nope, been crap to long and even worse is his arrogance aswell

the only thing i can think of why martinez persists with him is because of his age and his experience. only barry and jagielka, you would say are experienced veterans in the rest of the starting XI. bar kone when he's in. The rest is very youthful, especially at the back, which when you think of it makes sense. But when you weigh up that our best players have been the younger ones, you realise he shouldn't focus too much on it if that is the reasoning. Younger players have no fears if they haven't experienced all the lows that the more experienced players have, they play with less fear. Howard is currently playing like someone who is scared, there's no conviction in anything he does anymore.

Never mate he's utter pony and he will not string together a run of good games as long as he won't come and claim a ball in his 6 yard box never mind his whole area
