Tim Howard on ESPN interview

Don't know if it's because Chris Woods has gone, but his positional sense seems to be much better.
And none of that falling backwards over the goal line trying to save stuff.

your either on the wind up or you need to go the doctors about your eyes lad. He is not world class by any means but he's a good keeper. To say he is awful is just talking out your arse mate.

By this point last season he'd cost us about ten points. He's having a good season, that's it. He was ****e for the previous seven or eight.

My eyes are sound. They've been watching him for years. You should try it

Possibly on to something there. Seems back on form and more trustworthy than in the last 2-3 seasons.

I'd say he's been good this year Jamo. Before that he's been between bad and awful. Even when we had a great defence he was dodgy as feck.
He's had some well dodgy moments/games. However, I honestly think of all the times he's called upon to work he gets it right far more often than he gets it wrong. Probably too late for him to master coming off his line but I think most keepers have that problem. His complete lack of composure when playing with his feet is a big problem in my book with our current style.

He was awful during the first half of last season. He has his faults but he's been a very good keeper overall during his time here and is on course to having his best season yet.

Moyes on Barkley > Me KNOWING he was class. I believe you agreed with rusty???

Each to their own.

Haha, Lid have you ever really watched him. Like not highlights and youtube???

Having his best season ever this year, still, I'll go off the previous 8. Awful keeper

I don't know what you're on about tbh.

I don't think there's a single poster on here except you who thinks Howard is anywhere near 'awful'. Think about it.

I dont rate him as a gifted keeper and i would say at times in seasons gone by hes been awful - hes been very good this season mind, credit were its due.

Good point about Chris Woods to the lad that made.

In seasons gone by i do think he has been massively guilty in costing us points, so everything in context.

Tim Howard isn't awful. His big mistakes in his years here have been when he's come out too far for no good reason.

That and poor judgement sometimes in deciding when to come out to catch or punch crosses, but almost all 'keepers have that problem.

I watch ESPN FC every night and I saw Tim on it the other night, Tuesday, I think, but that part of his appearance wasn't shown here in Melbourne. I assume it was edited out.

It runs for an hour on Monday and half an hour from Tuesday to Saturday here. Is that the same where you see it?

......could be, not sure who our goalie coach is now, but I'm more inclined to think RM really gets into individuals minds to get the best out of them. He gets each player to play without fear and that could well include Howard. I think he's been a very solid keeper for a number of years and another of Moyes really good purchases.

Never really took Chris Woods for a coach TBH nice fella, bit too nice if you know what I mean. The new guy is the Japan Team Coach as well I think. I'm rubbish with names...

One thing I have noticed in the last few games about Howard is that he is looking to throw the ball out quickly an awful lot - a definite tactical change.

Seems a good egg, Howard. Awful keeper, in the main, IMO but a good fella to have about.

I imagine the players are starting to wake up a little bit to how different things can be under Martinez. A bit like some of our fans TBH.

you're on a wind up surely

As Evertonians, in living memory, we've seen 2 of the very best in Southall and Martin, so Howard is up against it with supporters opinions. It's difficult to even recall mistakes that either of those two made.

I think it's becoming more difficult for keepers now through the various rule changes and a lighter ball etc. All keepers are more prone to error. Naturally enough, when it costs YOUR club points it gets amplified out of proportion.

On balance though, Howard is one of the better keepers in the league.
