All the money spent,
All the hype about Stevie me....
And yet we could still end up finishing one,two places at most below them after our worst season in years

They are a threat to us now then? This close season:
Newcastle will leap frog us in terms of signings next season, villa will look a alternative bet to signing for us when it comes to players outside the champion league. West Ham and leicester above us too.

Digne must be howling, obviously the club wasn't the issue.
Sideways step to Villa. Definitely think he was capable for a step up to a higher club, England or elsewhere.

14th with a squad like that, very poor.

Gerrard likewise with Lampard can only really be judged next year with a full summer window but nothing in the past 6 months suggests they'll be competing towards the top end next year.

He'll have a busy window you'd think...no doubt will be spending money.

Perhaps top 8 aim next season.

Just watched the villa youth side play the rs off the park to win the fa youth trophy. The club seem like they are being run well top to bottom, owners are filthy rich, back room staff have been poached from clubs around the country and youth side is looking incredible. First team played some good stuff this season. Thier signings last summer weren’t flash but cash, Martinez, traore, and watkins have proved astute buys.
The manager again has improved them every season.
They seem like a club moving in a upward direction, well run and making wise investments for the long term good of the clubs future. While we seem like we are spunking money and hoping something lands lucky.
Big city, good stadium. Can see villa proving a big threat to our status in the tier below the big spenders over the next 10 years.
They are doing what we should have done six years ago, laying the foundations .

Kamara will be earning 175k euros per week. That's 9 million euros per season. He's a good player but really? That's a big risk to take for a club that's effectively a mid-table one.

They’ve not learned from us at all.

Add in Coutinho and the rest, and they’re just wasting moneh for the sake of it… all the most confusing when they’ve got a cracking set of U23s at the club.

I can't seem to find exact figures but it seems they have an annual turnover of around £180m but their wage bill is around £100m so they probably do have a fair bit of wiggle room. Also it highlights how much of a mess we have made things in terms of throwing wages at average players.
