That is most definitely not the case. A hell of a lot of questions were and are being asked.

He needs a good start next season or the natives will get restless.

Reckon he has already played his best games for them though. Diminishing returns next season on a big contract.
Buendia is the one going to lose in this deal. Wonder if he will be available in the summer. Id take him

So the general concensus with Villa Fans is that Buendia is better that Coutinho and there has been a lot of frustration that Coutinho has been starting over him. However I think most accept it was needed to get Coutinho on board.

There is also a consensus that we can't play them both together (though they did against Citeh and we were a whisker from getting a result) so maybe they can anyway.

However the REAL problem is that we haven't got a functioning defensive midfielder, and haven't since we were promoted. Fans have been crying out for it. Douglas Luiz, Nakamba and McGinn are just not the answer.

The desperate hope is that Boubacar Kamara is that missing link that will then allow us to play Coutinho and Buendia together.

We're hoping for another DM to add to the mix too. We'll probably sell Luiz who hasn't signed and new contract, Nakamba and Sanson so the net spend should be minimal.

Luiz has been a mixed bag, but if he won't sign we've go to get value whilst we can . And he's definitely not a reliable DM.

We want Coutinho AND Buendia so had to court him. Now he's signed and we've got a proper quality DM our attacking play should be supercharged with them both on the pitch.

Their issue is quite a big outlay without ever looking like they are going to threaten the coat-tails of the Top 8, let alone anything further.

I'm not a fan of most of their recent business, big contracts handed out to players in their late 20s and I'd question the hunger of someone like Coutinho in the longer-term, once the initial euphoria dies down.

They have done better business than us like for like, but that's hardly a ringing endorsement and they are likely going to have to endure a period of austerity ahead, with little or nothing to show for it.
