I think this was part of his game before, and given how isolated he looks when he does stay up top, I’ve got no issue with it. Look at his involvement in the build up to his own goal yesterday; the move never gets started if he stays up top waiting for the ball to get lumped at his cranium.
Just watched MOTD and see he did an ‘archer’ goal celebration, I’m all for a goal celebration like that, although no sure id be putting an apple on my head for him just yet.

Gyokeres hasn't looked great either, and also cost around 65m - and is playing with an unbelievable team around him. Delap has been a sick note. Ekitike and Woltemade have looked very good but cost 70-80m. Isak...
He has lots of developing to do but I still stand by thinking that in a year's time we'll be very happy with Barry for 27m given a) how expensive strikers are and b) how much money needs to be spent elsewhere in the squad.
He is on the right development track. He is a rough diamond, that's why we got him for the fee we did, we make more chances for him on one Vs ones like we did last night and he ends the season with possibly 6-8 goals, which is ok for your first season.
Some of the stuff here is hyperbolic, trying to make him out like he's the worst footballer they've ever seen, id argue people saying that really don't watch much football outside of Everton.
The lad has a lot of very good technical qualities to his game, that sometimes aren't there consistently, but sometimes are, pretty normal for a striker in general but especially one still adapting to his game.
He is strong (and will get stronger) he is quick, and he does need to adapt to the league, which he is doing.
More goals will help.

It doesnt really tho Phil. A player can cost nothing, but still be a great player. The question is, is Barry a Prem player?
