2025/26 Thierno Barry

Great goal and the lad puts in a shift but if we're honest you'd swap Barry for pretty much any striker we've ever had in the past he's that bad.
Maupey?
Sandro?
Straq?
Rondon?
Angell?
Barlow?
Cadamarteri?
Beckford?
Steve Watson?
Mo Johnston?
Spencer?
Jo?
Traore?
Bakayoko?
Vaughan?

It was a strange performance. Some really good moments and then others that left you wondering how he's become a pro footballer.
Striker is a hard position because most of what you try won’t come off. If you watch even someone like Salah or Haaland, they do loads of terrible stuff every game: misplaced passes, air kicks, terrible shots that go out for corners, they get tackled most of the time when they try to beat someone. But everyone knows they are great players because they have a body of work that backs it up so people don’t focus on the bad stuff. Everton fans are hyper focussed on every single touch Barry takes and any error is taken as conclusive evidence of his incompetence. I think he continues to improve. His hold up play could be better at times but people act like every hopeful ball up to Haaland or Salah sticks. It doesn’t. Barry has looked more of a threat running the channels and in behind in recent games. He had the good chance against Burnley where the keeper made a great save and he had several runs with the ball down the channels today to good effect. He probably needs to realise that in this league he isn’t going to be dribbling around people very often so best to pass it and get in the box.

I want him to succeed and hopefully this goal will do wonders for his confidence but tbh it wasn't the cleanest of strike was it, their GK got a touch and he was a bit slow with his movement, also not the best angle. A goal's a goal, I know. It is just that he should be more lethal
Watching it again at full speed, he receives the ball from McNeill, plays a smart pass into Garner, then drifts off the back of the Forest centre half to be goal side. Garner neatly turns his man, Barry calls for it into space and Garner pings the ball in just slightly too far in front of him which he controls and finishes.

Slow motion makes it look like he didn't fully control it, but the pass wasn't perfect and came in at pace. I reckon it was a decent finish (and he did well to get into that space).
