And this then plays into the accusations of “the deep state”.
Someone unqualified, or ignorant of laws, policies, processes, can try to make changes which are unlawful, or unconstitutional or contrary to established codes of practice, and then get push back from the more qualified people around them.
Which then looks like obstruction, and feeds the narrative of a deep state working against the officials.
Out of interest, what are their opinions on your beliefs on the matter?
I ask this because there are so many people who have these takes in regards to trans people. Yet in my experience, the trans people I know couldn’t give two hoots about most of the big talking points and just want to be left alone and treated like regular people. Not treated like political hot potatoes.

People are so weird about the whole issue. Several years ago (before this issue really got really heated) I worked for the local parks department. One of the parks had a building with two identical bathrooms each of which had a single toilet, a sink, and a locking door. The ONLY difference was that one had a sign with a male on the front while the other had a female. Without fail, every weekend when the park got crowded there would be a line of 15-20 women outside one while the other went mostly empty and unused. I suggested we replace the signage with gender neutral ones to increase efficiency, and was shot down because it was “too political”.I'm not sure, but guessing by the outrage I think they have removed all the stalls and replaced them with an open air trough which big beardy trucker types are peeing into right next to little girls.
Must be that, because I don't think anyone would get upset about someone peeing in a private cubicle

because at the moment, the only counterpoints are trolls popping in with the same old tired nonsense about echo chambers, yet not being able to articulate any opposing viewpoint.
There were a lot who suddenly appeared as soon as Trump won the election, it would be nice to have a rational discussion with some of them
