Not going to happen though as long as certain issues don't get properly looked at. Sort them out in a sensible manner, then anyone pushing an anti agenda stands out as a clear bigot.

Womens sport, private spaces and the prison system.

The only three issues that have to be sorted.

All the rest that's thrown out there is by and large irrelevant without those three issues to fall back upon
Excellent post. It's really not a lot, but made to be a huge deal by one side of the political spectrum.

Not to derail the thread too much, and I do get the 2 points on bathrooms and sports. But think your immovable position on bathrooms could lead to some outcomes you probably wouldn’t want.

Are you fighting tooth and nail to insist this guy only uses female bathrooms? That would probably be more of a shock to people than if he used the gents, no?

Likewise, a major plank of this anti-trans bathroom argument rests on the idea that there's a sizeable number of biological men out there who are looking to commit sexual assault on women in public bathrooms if the opportunity comes up.

And so they want to force even very convincingly feminine transwomen to use men's facilities. You know, the facilities with an apparently-high number of men looking to sexually women as soon as they get the chance.

I'd firstly need to know who this individual is to be able to comment on it. I've seen worse looking women like.
Well it’s a trans sexual activist called Buck Angel, who was born a woman.

But you wouldn’t know any of that that information about them if they just walked into the gents.

Your original point was about telling people to use the bathroom of the gender they were born in. So taking out the question of how you would always know that, now you do, are you insisting that person uses the female bathroom?

Why does every thread turn into a transgender thread with you lot. Start one and let's discuss it there.

Excellent post. It's really not a lot, but made to be a huge deal by one side of the political spectrum.

It's also something that I'd imagine could be pretty easily sorted if you simply used common sense.

Private spaces, if you have fully transitioned then you use the one for what you now are, if you haven't then you use your biological one.

Same for the prison system.

Sport, if you went through puberty then that's the category in sport you compete in, otherwise you possess an unfair biological advantage. (Not enough to set up a separate category for only trans athletes otherwise that would hd e been a third option)

Would that be acceptable or seen as persecution and restricting rights, I guess activists would say it was discriminatory.

You’re spot on there. The right very effectively weaponised the trans debate & makes a huge deal out if it. The Dems didn’t touch it.

Sadly lies like “trans men boxing women at the Olympics” are still repeated even though that didn’t happen. It gets more traction than a couple of school level swim & athletic meets.

Thank you. So I'd like to add a point which would be regarding before/after transitioning. I'll state a very firm go to the bathroom of your born gender if you've not fully transitioned (I.e you're a bloke that likes wearing dresses and make up but has a cock and balls = men's bathroom). If you've transitioned, go to your new gender's bathroom (I.e you're that bloke but you've now had your cock and balls removed = women's bathroom).

If you feel like you identify with something that's neither male nor female, either don't go to the bathroom or look down your pants and that will tell you which bathroom you need to be using.

There should be absolutely no "But I want people to refer to me as a female even though I've got male genetalia so I insist on being allowed to use the female bathroom and I'm going to sue you if you prevent that from happening." No, if you want to be a woman then become a woman, then you may use the female bathroom like all other women.

Obviously some of this is hard to police because you can hardly force people to pull down their kecks to prove their gender, so you'd have to hope that people respect the rules. And if anybody using the incorrect bathroom is found to have committed any kind of crime while in there (clearly a very tiny number of men have used female bathrooms to perve on women), then come down on them like a tonne of bricks.

Also thank you for your transitioning point part - helped me better structure my point above.

A political party based on common sense? Shouldn't really be controversial should it!

Why are toilets a "genuine area of concern"? What are other people doing in them that I'm apparently not privy to?
I'm not sure, but guessing by the outrage I think they have removed all the stalls and replaced them with an open air trough which big beardy trucker types are peeing into right next to little girls.

Must be that, because I don't think anyone would get upset about someone peeing in a private cubicle 🤷‍♂️

So this is good, as you’ve moved from the rigid position you said you’d never concede on. (Not a gotcha, think it’s actually to your credit).

The above description is probably a reasonable middle ground.

But just to really confuse things, Buck Angel would still fall outside your scope. I’ve seen him discuss some of this in debates, and he’s not fully transitioned, hasn’t had operations, just hormone stuff.

So think as a general rule, your proposal above would work for 99.9%, but if you were to rigidly enforce it, you’d still be sending Buck Angel into the female bathroom.

I don’t have a strong view on this one way or another. Think it’s a complete non-issue.

To me, it just seems that imposing hard and fast rules, leads to unwanted outcomes, from the point of view of those imposing those rules.
