The vast majority of Musk's wealth is in Tesla. Vast majority as in well over 50%. Could be something like 2/3 or more of Musk's wealth. Though the exact % is unknown as he's in legal dispute over some Tesla ownership and the exact worth of SpaceX is kinda debatable.

He owns around 21-23% of Tesla, compared to around 40% of SpaceX.

Tesla has a market valuation of 1.43 trillion as of today, SpaceX isn't publicly traded (which itself should be a clue!) but is probably around $350 billion right now, before the taxpayer money floods in (they are already getting some). SpaceX is also in every respect a much better led company, with clearer goals and better talent all around than Tesla is.

As has been oft said, Tesla was wildly overvalued even before Trump won (its doubled since) given the volume of sales, the competition catching up / surpassing it and the things that are about to be thrown in its way (the ending of US federal assistance, its likely high entry on the list of US companies to retaliate at for tarriffs, Musk's political interference abroad) it is likely to go down significantly. Musk will appear to lose tens / hundreds of billions when it does, even if it just went back to what it was in the first half of last year, but he'll have actually lost nothing.

Or to put it another way, Musk would not have intervened in US politics for Tesla, nor would he expect a financial benefit to Tesla from backing Trump. He almost certainly has done it for SpaceX, and is clearly going to benefit massively from it (especially if we are talking about Mars in the next four years).

He's making a humdinger of a speech in Exchange Hall right now: Liz Cheney and Pellosi getting both barrels and Biden too.
