The unpopular opinions thread

Kone is actually a decent squad player.
He isn't. And besides, the fee we paid was too high for a "decent squad player" who has huge fitness issues.

McGeady was a bargain, and is underplayed.
Very nearly stopped reading here.

Alcaraz is not a bad cost effective back up.
Correct. He is an AWFUL cost effective backup.

If we were to sell a major player, without a doubt it should be Coleman.
Not gonna jump all over this without hearing your reasoning... but I suspect we'd disagree.

Oviedo should also be sold.
There's plenty who should be leaving before Oviedo does. And Coleman is not one of them.

Lennon will not be this good if we buy him on a permanent.
Agree 100%

Atsu should have had more gametime.
Agree 100%

Naismith is utter donkey turd.
He's not brilliant by any means, but he's better than McGeady, Kone and Alcaraz.

Barry is ok. Not great, but ok.
I think he's reached the end of his usefulness to us.

Haha, we'd get on like a house on fire mate.

He did not have fitness issues before he came, not to the extent we have seen. Forget the fee, I don't mind him coming off the becnh, he has decent movement.

McGeady is boss lad. But opinions etc.

Correct. He is an AWFUL cost effective backup.
Again, opinions like, but I like that he can play football, and that he attacks set pieces. 10k he is meant to be on.

This season, the main reason we have struggled in my opinion, is other teams shutting down our full backs, like they have never done before. As a result, our fullbacks are not nearly as effective. Add to this Coleman's individual form this year, and whilst he is still very good, I think he is the most replaceable.

There's plenty who should be leaving before Oviedo does. And Coleman is not one of them.
We have 3 left backs. Garbutt is boss. Baines is boss. Oviedo is decent.

He can't pass the ball, something these 3 can all do. He also really really struggles with the concept of turning around. He only ever plays the way he is facing. Infuriating.

I think he should be phased out slowly, but I am not gutted to see him on the team sheet. The likes of Hibbert, Howard, Naismith, Distin and Barkley on the wing are all much much worse. Gibson should start when fit though.

Garbutt will have 50+ assists to give the RS the title and Stevie Mee will take all the credit for his ' legacy'.

In the run-up to the 2008–09 campaign he suffered a serious injury while playing for Côte d'Ivoire againstGuinea on 20 August,[14] and a subsequent scan showed he had suffered a cruciate knee ligament injury in his left leg, and he underwent surgery to repair the damage the following week,

he already had had a serious knee injury.

Interesting that we completely agree on some things, and couldn't disagree more on others.:drunk:

In one of your comments you mention us having three left backs: do you think Garbutt is staying?

Well, If he does leave, then i would keep Oviedo. I don't believe 3 left bacls are needed, 2 and Barry/Galloway can act as emergency cover. If Garbutt cannot be kept, then Oviedo should stay.

So has Barkley? Kone had been clear for a while, you cannot predict such a major injury as the one he suffered.
