The undervalued player that is Leon Osman

Two things really.

1. His new White boots are boss. They score goals. He bought them when Pienaar left.

2. At this rate he'll be ready for the England FC squad in 3 or 4 years according to Micky Quinn.

Hes taken his chance with both hands fair play to the lad, he can be frustrateing but when he is song hes as good as Steevie Snide if not better - far more direct as well!

*Notable mention for one Anthoney Hibbert.

ozzie has always been this good so enough already with the over-nite sensation palaver dont you know

What a lil gem we have here. Does he typify Everton under the David Moyes era?

He grafts, there are highs, and lows to his game, nothing too flashy but gets a job done etc. He never appear's to be in anyone's first XI team sheet in reality when other players are fit, but always appears to come up with the goods when called upon. Never heard a bad word from him either? Does every team need an Osman?

Will he keep his place when Arteta, Fellaini and Cahill all come back?

If he was called Leon van der Osman, would he be our best player? Know what I mean.....?

He's never received an England call up, would he be a classic England B Team player, when they used to do those friendlies? He's never been even linked with a move away from Everton from what I can remember.

Why is that?

A few work colleagues from Derby hail him as one of their best players over the past 10 or so years

Osman random fact - He is eligible to play for England, Cyprus and Turkey

And here's a vid, feels weird not visiting youtube to praise a player

Great little write up for our man. I have always loved Ossie since the watching him in the 98 youth cup. Top player and takes stick for playing in a role no other will or can on the right side.

This time last year he was one of the star players. Here he is again. Dependable and unlike players like Pienaar and Heitinga; he's Everton through and through.

He gets it!!!!!
I get sick of people ****ging off ossie, I am blind to any deficiencies...he is EFC through and through

This^^^^

I think most people would agree that the stick Osman gets has always been when he's been playing out on the right wing. And we all know that he's 10x the player in the center.

Even lately, when he's done good things from the right, it's been because he's roaming; he's not been isolated, he's been free to go wherever there is space, and cause havoc.

Quite simply he's been a victim of his own versatility. But, in his preferred position, he is a beast.

Correcto!!!!

As well as all this I also believe that Ossie is instrumental in the off field well being of the players, he along with Jags appear to be the jokers in the pack. In every succesful group of people you have to have the right balance in terms of work ethic, desire, banter etc. All qualities I think Ossie brings to the team.

He's half turkish?!?!?!? I didn't know that! Countryman! Newfound love for Ossie.

Seriously - he's been the boss lately playing in his natural role.

EDIT: Sheesh, I just realized I should have figured out his heritage from his last name which comes from his Turkish dad. But I realize why I didn't - his last name is mispronounced on TV. Ahs-man is how it's pronounced to British-ize it, it should really be "Ohs-mahn" being that his dad is a Turkish Cypriot. Subtle, but it is different. Wonder if his dad cares. Huh - learned something new today.

He is a gem, no doubt about that and I'm really glad for him that for the last 2 months, he's been playing like a Pienaar + Arteta type of a player. His energy is undoubted but over the years his only problem has been inconsistency and that is why many evertonians wanted to see someone else in his position. Although his inconsistency was partly cos he was playing on the wings but I wanted him to establish himself as a CAM or a CM and do good passing and an occasional long range effort. That is something that he's recently been doing. Earlier, when we played him at CM, his passing lacked and he seemed to get out muscled by the stronger players. He is extremely clever and has lovely feet, it's just a matter of him making the most of his potential. I hope it all stays this way or when the likes of Felli and Mikel return to top form and Osman's form dips then I know that 90% of people here would want him out of the side ASAP!

What I love from that clip is you see not just how good he is technically, great touch and ability striking the ball, but also how clever he is, like when he lobbed the keeper with a header from ~18yds! :)

I remember Osman saying his grandad was Somalian and he was eligible to play for them. I think 'Osman' is also a common name there.
