Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott: Everton boss David Moyes told me my attitude was poor and I'd let the lads down. I'm just not like that | Mail Online

Thing is, no-one is really arsed. We've signed a cracking replacement, and used the rest of the money to strengthen and he's been underwhelming for his new club.
So I thought, OK, I’ll put in an official transfer request. And it quickly became public. I thought if Everton really wanted to keep me, they would have kept it quiet and simply rejected it. But it came out and that was that. Which was a pity, because I loved it at Everton, had so many friends there. I didn’t expect people to be happy about me leaving but it could have been handled so much better.’

That's some weird logic you have there, you massive belter.

Pleased he's gone, decent player but huge tit.

For a time, he was my favourite player in the team. Now, it's Rodwell, and would be even if Joleon had stayed.
Truth is he was at his best at LB whether he liked it or not. Now we've got a better LB and a better CB. If he came back tomorrow he'd be a good squad player to cover for Baines/Jags/Distin/Yobo in the event of injury, suspension and ANC

He came across balanced I thought. I really do think he caught Moyes on the end of a terrible week - a 6-1 home defeat is hard for a manager to take. But let's face it, the Steve Round/training on his own business does not reflect well on the management of the club.

You have to bear in mind with any recent transfer from this club that the club itself doesn't need much persuading to sell. That was also an undercurrent to that story. That he'd learned through experience what the club said was likely to be a bargaining position not an end to the matter.

have to agree with JM maybe would not get into the team week in week out now but we will probably miss his threat from corners. Although yobo is having a go.

I don't think either party covered themselves in righteous glory during this whole sordid affair.

Having said that...I really don't give a flying fcuk about him anymore! :dodgy:

Whatever gets your head down , old huge fod' , lad .
Lies , damn lies and statistics , eh ???
I know for a FACT that old elephant man was already pushing for a move well before the Arsenal game . He spat the dummy at the airport , pre U.S. tour .
No matter what he says , WE KNOW THE TRUTH .
Fuk off , scare the kids . As Il Duce said , we've moved on , with a better squad of people who actually want to be there .

NIL SATIS NISI OPTIMUM .

Im right behind them for the training on their own thing. His attitude stank, as was said at the time some of his team mates noticed it too. I'm made up our manager doesnt stand for the overpaid blert syndrome, and it will put off those types from signing for us.

Sorry pal, not behind the "club will sell always" business. We said he was not for sale and the player spat his dummy, if he didn't then he would still be an Everton player.

Smacks of inconsistency to be honest, " I was so shocked that the manager said my attitude was bad, i couldnt understand it" - yes three day before he handed in a transfer request before the first game of the season. What he fails to admit and what Moyesy has alluded to during all this was the undoubhted tapping up and offer of an mega contract by City through unoffical sources. I have little sympathy for him to be honest in terms of how he handled the situation and this "poor me" article does little to change it he was the main protaginist in the move which effected the club and a s far as i am concerned colluded with City unoffically to engineer a transfer against the rules.

Its not the managers job to make players who want to move away from the club and engage in illeagal activity to feel warm and fluffy inside - there employed to make decisons to get the best for Everton, if a player publicly - states he wants out of the club and you resign yourself to letting him go - why would you let him play with the players you will and can depend on. Maybe he took a leaf out of City book and tried to unsettle the lad - who he knew would join City anyway to unsettle his performences for them - they did the same to us.

Moyes was bang on the money for me given the above. I cant fathom why Lescott would write this, at the end of the day he wanted out for cash or ambition or whatever his logic dictated. The context of the transfer he colluded with stunk and for me was a tapping up. He handed in a transfer request three days before the start of the season - and hes trying to tell us his attitude was spot on - please - leaving us little over a week to try and compleate deals with whatever cash we accepted. I think lesser of him now after writing this - rule no 1 - keep your dignity and keep your mouth shut. There is only ever going to be one winner in this for Evertonians if its Lescott Vs Moyes. The article above makes no sense and i worry for the lads sense of realism if he actually beleives what he has written

I didnt want him to go and to be honest i would still love im at the club - i did and still think he was our best defender and i do appreciate and have respect for the performences he put in here - he was a very talented player for us.

Going on in the future, I think he, we and Man City all underestimate the influence that Moyes and the coaching team had on his performences - he often needed motivating and a foot in the ass to keep his level high - from what ive seen at City hes playing at about 70% of what he did at Everton - and cant head a beach ball these days. It will be sad from a footballing perspective if he continues the way he has started and becomes another average player - but kind of satisfying as a Evertonian.

He's always going to try to justify himself and his actions (self-righteous pr*ck )- expect a double page spread of bleating in all the rags the day we play citeh home/away this season.

Let's move on and stop cutting ourselves up - Distin is quality (y)(y)

i would have liked it if he had the following attitude:

i would be good to go to city, but i won't force it
if it happens it happens, but if it doesn't i'm still happy to be at a great club

It's like when you break up with a girlfriend. Neither side is ever in the wrong (according to them). It's all part of the moving on process. I'm sure inside both sides will appreciate things they could have done differently but I doubt it will ever come out in the press.

They always text. always text when their lonely demons get the better of them.
