I can understand why to be fair.
Rape claims, child molesting claims etc always stick regardless of the verdict, they always leave a question of doubt with the accused.
It also makes sense to keep it out of the public eye to avoid any adverse effects to his family and job etc.
I've never understood why a person would accept money rather than pursuing criminal punishment if they're telling the truth

Do you know how hard it is for a rape victim to take someone to court and im talking about normal men never mind a superstar like ronaldo.

Far as i'm concerned she's after more money,
If she's serious why did she accept money in the first case? Surely you'd rather the guy be punished as clearly a fine is nothing to him.
Again if she's serious she should hand back every penny of the money she was allegedly paid and make it clear that she does not want any money whatsoever to be paid (other than legal costs) as a result of a case.
Only way i'd take her claims seriously.
Last thing i'd expect a rape victim to be concerned with is cash, stinks of the ched evans case for me, cry rape and make a payday

Or you could look at it and say the list of allegations of sexual misconduct or offending against celebrities is extremely lengthy and how many have been convicted ? even when they have , like Tyson he still gets cameos in mainstream movies . So maybe you could think I may as well just take the money that’s been offered . Or as said above you could say what kind of innocent man offers a woman money to walk away when she makes a false allegation of rape .

If you found out this woman had previously made an allegation of rape be honest You’d definitely mention on here and use it as a stick to beat her with . Well let’s face it ronaldo has previously had at least one allegation of rape against him , so your thoughts on that ?

I don’t know what happened, I’ve no idea . I think ronaldo is one of the greatest footballers it’s ever been my privilege to watch. Ive argued and defended him , usually with RS about all kinds of things from his ability to the irrelevance of any rumours around his sexuality in any debate of greatness . I’d like to see what evidence is revealed over this but like I’ve said it’s deeply troubling and most worrying is the release of what seems to be a genuine interview with ronaldo where he accepts she said “no “ and “stop “ . If that’s true then you can talk about ched Evans and money grabbing all you like but that is very compelling evidence of rape and is going to need some serious explaining .

A lot of people stuck up for him , and some of what was said about that woman was pretty horrendous. You’ve just had the president of the United States openly mocking a woman who claims to have been the victim of a sexual assault , whilst people in this country who think he’s one of the best things since sliced bread march and protest at courts to ‘protect the rights of victims’ in a particular case of offending the world’s gone crazy .

Don't get me wrong , if he's guilty then he deserves the harshest penalty available,
however i have seen plenty of cases where women have changed their minds afterwards due to social judgement etc
we'll have to see what comes out of it
personally i want to believe he's innocent, just like i want to believe that michael jackson was innocent.

Compared to actual rape though what’s the percentages of False accusations? I’m sure they say in this country only about 15% of rapes are reported so are we suggesting that of the ones that get the strength and courage to report it , get through the police investigation, pass the cps test we think a load of them are making it up ? I’m sure there is a stat that says that in over 30 years’s in the US only about 50 men convicted of rape have been cleared after conviction because it was revealed to be a false allegation .

I think your last point is probably illustrative, I said earlier I think it’s easy to think Harvey Weinstein is guilty but if you like someone maybe you let it sway you.

I’d love him to be innocent mate but you can’t let that effect your thoughts on it , otherwise we end up in a world where the talented can do anything they want . In a world where because they’re a celebrity and loved by loads of people OJ Simpson gets acquitted of double murder or Tyson gets convicted but is still a celebrity

Lots of reasons but one practical one I think people (especially those from Europe) underestimate is healthcare costs - getting the mental care and support including things like anti anxiety medication and counseling you’d need to get over such an attack would probably have been very difficult to afford on her previous wage and that is assuming she could still continue in that line of work.

Ronaldo strikes me as a bit of an odd ball, and whatever happens here happens, but it would really suck if he is guilty, not just because of any crime, but because he’s a huge football legend, a genius and a role model to kids all over the world.

I thought the same when Michael Jackson was on trial. It’s rubbish when bone-fide legends get pulled up for stuff like this. It takes the magic out of their incredible, inspirational careers.

Even though it's documented that he invited the woman to his room and admits to having sex with her? Then there's his partner with whom he's had a kid. I'd say the evidence points towards heterosexuality.
