The reasoning behind us playing on Monday night?

The TV rights are sold as 7 packages, with Monday and Friday night games being one of them. 18 games need to be shown on Monday nights this season. This week it's our turn.

So it's a boring answer, but it's just package filling.

So everyone will do two Monday games in the season?

The reasoning for playing on Monday? Money obviously.

I'm not sure how being the only game on TV for an entire nation to watch is a bad thing.

I guess as an American I have grown up with MNF, and being in that game has always been kind of a big deal.
Exactly this. It only helps with exposure, we should want to play these kinds of games where we are the only game in town for a night, so to speak

Next week in the banal questions archive - 'why sometimes are there people wearing the kit of the away side at Goodison?'

I don't think it'll be evenly distributed, but for whatever reason, we were chosen this week.

Highly doubt it would be evenly distributed. If the Premier League were smart they'd try to schedule the (perceived) most compelling matches on Monday to capitalize on a confined audience...much like they've tried to do with the NFL in America which has been wildly successful.

MNF is a part of our culture over here. If you get MNF action you are usually relevant at the very least.

Are we afraid that we'll look gash in front of the entire nation as the only show on TV?? Genuine question...it's not in my DNA to immediately react that way.

Generic transfer deadline day rant.

Generic Lukaku only does it for Belgium rant.

Generic we have to play on a Monday rant.

Shut up.

3-0 to the Blues. Bolasie with his first EFC goal. Mirallas and Lukaku with the other 2.

I'm sure when this was announced, one poster alluded to some sort of conspiracy regarding the timings of our games at Sunderland. When did we last have a three o clock Saturday visit to the acceptable face of North East football?
I'm not sure there's a conspiracy to this one. Poor judgment perhaps?

Sadly, said member is now banned, so we'll never know what they were going on about.

Slightly chilling really, that Murdoch's insidious influence has infiltrated the moderation team.................

Haha never. Could never take a bribe from that man.

Anyone else yeah, but not him......
:p
