Aye, one of the few to be fair. But he's been poor in quite a few games this season, tentative going forward and looking generally at home in our lethargic team. It could be paranoia, but I get the impression that something isn't quite right with him and if someone wants to leave, I say take the money and drive him to the airport. He's one of the best right backs in the world but he's not bigger than the club and I'd prefer to get someone young and hungry, maybe even give Browning a chance.
you maybe right mate, it's just there's a few I'd gladly see the back of, Distin, Osman and what have you, even Jags (not good/strong enough for me) unfortunately

but Seamus is one of the ones I'd been hoping we'd build the team around

It's kind of my biggest concern about this entire mess. I don't really think we'll be relegated, but a team like ourselves, working off limited resources and finances, get rare and small windows of opportunities to achieve something, be it a cup or a place in the top 4. Fortuitous circumstances have to converge at the right time, young players breaking through and hitting form, momentum being capitalized on.

Despite all the speculation, we were able to hold on to all of our best players in the transfer window with very little fuss as well as convince one of Europe's most promising young strikers to sign a permanent deal. That's because we had an unprecedented level of success with minimal outlay, playing great football that convinced all of our young talent they were in the right place, somewhere that matched their ambition. Now we're a shambles, and a lot of players like Seamus, will jump at the chance to join a big team right in time for his peak years and there's nothing we can do to stop him. It's a knock-on effect and then you're put back a few squares and waiting for that window of opportunity to roll around again.

I don't think we'll sell all of our best players, I believe Kenwright is a tough negotiator, but it would be naive of us to think that one or two of our best players won't be plucked from us by the circling vultures. They almost certainly will, because our current predicament will tell them that we won't be able to satisfy their immediate ambitions anymore.

bang on, and I agree with the bit in bold most of all, including Kenwright

but I'm hoping (because of it's eternal springs and what have you) that Seamus is the type who'd say "Everton gave me my big chance, they deserve a bit more loyalty from me"

but as you point out, I probably am very naive in these matters,

we'll see

No you are not being naive Patrick.

Coleman won't be going anywhere unless the club decide to cash in on him.

nonsense mate. One of the players mates? This isn't a nursery, it's a serious sport and I don't think the players belittle it that way. It seems you see it in a way where players spit their dummies out and act like two year olds if they don't get their own way
Chelsea did it. Was plain to see

The fact that this is even a question is bad enough.

Martinez doesn't strike me as a motivator, can hardly imagine him going mental at half time in the way (dare I say it) Moyes would. It's true.

It's been said before he lavishes praise too easily and is over-positive but players shouldn't need any motivating to give their best, it should be a given, they just need a k*ck up the backside and can't imagine Roberto doing that.

Do you know what I find strange?

The way we are all down and beaten but when it comes to the young boys game we will be lifted and talking of possibilities of winning it but then back to doom and gloom straight after. Everton love to mess with our emotions alright

It's way too easy to lay the entire blame for the current debacle at the door of the players and in so doing excuse the manager of the prime responsibility.

The players look lost out there at he minute, confidence is shot, and now they've got an ironing board between the sticks, hardly going to inspire confidence like. His tactics are all over the place and he's patently not communicated what he wants properly as hinted at last week.

If there are any players in that dressing room who have lost faith in him and are agitating behind the scenes, then it's his job as the manager to stamp on them and show his authority, same as all the other top managers in the game would do, faced with the same sort of issue.

Personally I think he's showing that he's as weak as piss at present, he needs to find his balls before it's too late and get some fire and passion back into the side

Imagine that cash these dossers have pulled in for those last 7 games going to the Everton Foundation to be spent on real bona fide Everton players who gave it their all?

That'd at least take some of the sting out of their tanking. I have no idea what that figure would be. Run into the millions though. They haven't earned it; they should pay it right into the Foundation if they had any decency.

imagine the cash loyal fans have has to pay around christmas to watch all those limp displays. long journeys like soton away as well. embarassing
