Flavours? I thought it was just bioluminescent colourings they added, like glow sticks ?In 67 I got a job in the summer holidays at Lunts in Tranmere mixing the flavours for the ice pops. Best flavour were the cola version.
They additives all had long strange names back then. No "E" numbers like today. Kids that we were back then, at the end of the day we took all the defected pops to the skips for waste. Then the pop fights started all of us going home drenched in sticky artificial flavouring.Flavours? I thought it was just bioluminescent colourings they added, like glow sticks ?
I lived 5 minutes' away from the factory, my mother used to work there. Used to bring loads of goodies home.Yes, halfway up Holt Road.
The factory moved from Seymour Street to the Holt Road site. Fond childhood memories.I lived 5 minutes' away from the factory, my mother used to work there. Used to bring loads of goodies home.
Used to be a sweet shop nearby (Henshaws ?) where they used to have ha'ppeny and penny trays of sweets. You could get a fair few for not much outlay. There was a bombed out area virtually adjacent where we used to have bonfires - weeks collecting wood and any other crap we could get, also made decent guys, not like the pathetic attempts you get nowadays. The factory moved from Seymour Street to the Holt Road site. Think the bomb site was the old St Andrews school site. Those bonfires once started had kids guarding them to stop them being raided.Used to be a sweet shop nearby (Henshaws ?) where they used to have ha'ppeny and penny trays of sweets.
