The Oldies Thread

I am a child of post decimalisation currency, and the other day I was thinking about the change in coin sizes, and the old 10p and 5p pence being the old 2 bob and 1 bob coin as the old folks (of my youth) would have it.

On looking online, everyone calls the 2 shilling/bob coin a Florin. My question to the elder statesmen of the forum is did they ever call it a Florin? (Or is my family just rough and never had brass ha'penny let alone a Florin guvnor.)

Try listening to radio 4 extra on a Friday pm. A programme called podcast radio hour. Its mainly a woman talking to women about podcasts they've heard, most of which are by millennial women talking about themselves. Mrs Hawtree insists that I am losing the capacity to hear her mumbling turned away from me as I leave the room. Thankfully she doesn't hear my comments when she says it.
