The Oldies Thread

Even in the late 60s you could have a quiet thursday night out - 5 pints or so with 10 bob.
Sorry to quote myself but I timed out on the edit
Re Thursday night.
Back then payday of course was cash in the little brown envelope on friday, so thurs was skint night and I'd sit there rattling the paper and generally not allowing the arl lady to watch the tv in peace
You not going out?
Nah, skint
More paper rattling
Would you go out if you werent skint?
Yeah
Gets purse
Heres 10 bob then
Do I have to pay it back tomorrow
Ma thinks
Nah go on sod off
Nice one
Down to The Swan in James St Garston to watch top of the pops.

Yer Ma is sound never forget it

Dunno if I am honest. The lower ones they use on telly, double them and add 20 gets you the scorchio numbers the tabloids love.

That would be Celsius (also known as centigrade) to fahrenheit :)

I think it works as a rough guide, for instance 100C times 2 plus 20 gives you 220F, whereas i believe the accurate way of doing it is to multiply the celsius by 1.8 and then add 32 : 100C times 1.8 is 180, plus 32 is 212F, so only 8 out.

Like many in this thread I don't feel (or act) my age. I turn 66 in August (I genuinely don't know where the years went.)
The reality was brought home to me this morning when my bus pass arrived in the post.
I was lucky enough to retire from work aged 57 and I genuinely feel healthier and fitter now than I did then.

From next week I get my OAP.
It's just dawned on me that I really am getting old
