Think you've missed the point of him doing it. He's playing to his immediate electorate - the Tory membership. He knows full well that there's absolutely zero chance of getting it through parliament, but he needs a crowd pleaser for the people who will be actually voting in the contest, because right now he's getting flattened by Johnson.

Basically, for him to have any chance of winning, he has to be as Tory (e.g. utterly inhuman) as humanly possible.

Well after centuries of domesticating animals, as pets or livestock, some would say that we have a duty of care to protect them from the wild world they no longer have the defences to survive in.

We kept ex battery hens for years, and every night we would make sure they were all safe and sound in their hen house.

I'm sure people would be flocking for his books if he wasn't a politician in the first place.

Trying to deflect on how the four top jobs in the EU are being dealt out great democrocy there -two of them are failed politicians too the finance minister should have been jailed in France and the German MP on defence it laughable......
At least the party's over here have a ballot not just pluck 4 no marks out federalist to make the EU like the USA what a joke it all is.......
I will be glad when we have left the EU.....

Had a fun day today. Went to do some trade union flag waving at Boris and Jeremy at their hustings in Darlington. Met a fox and a chicken ( hunt sabs) , some angry pensioners protesting about the TV licences, a random bloke with an EU flag shouting "bollocks to Brexit", an elderly autograph hunter (WTF!) and a very sharply dressed police officer who was part of the security detail - complete with Men in Black type shades who was also a West Ham season ticket holder!
