Haven't seen seen this in the national media. Definitely a national priority ; as always, looking after their own nasty parochial interests.

He is an idiot. Fox hunting has had its day and most people living in the countryside aren’t that bothered. They do of course hate foxes because of the huge damage they do, but we have trained marksmen and vermin removal people to accomplish this.

This was one of the stupidities of the May Manifesto, there was no need to raise this issue and it just hacks the uninformed city dweller off while portraying the Tories in a bad light. The hunts still exist, they still ride their horses and have a degree of sport and activity, let the professionals get rid of the foxes.......

Weird little dig at the 'uninformed city dweller'.
For starters, many have seemed fine for an uniformed electorate to be the deciding opinion on a big issue

It was about how foxes are viewed. In the countryside they are correctly seen as ruthless killers who decimate chickens etc, while many city folk seem to think of foxes as a Basil Brush cuddly animal....

i think people do over romanticise animals, but calling them 'ruthless killers' when they are just acting on instinct to survive is also a bit unfair....and it never excuses cruelty

Then just shoot them. Why have to chase them for hours on end until they can run no more and the adrenaline and fear cannot carry them any further, they are then torn apart by a pack of dogs while a load of blokes on horseback laugh?

That is not the dividing line of this argument. Many who oppose hunting live or have grown up in the countryside, like myself. Just seems like broad brushstrokes based on your own prejudice.

Tradition is the only argument for it and it's incredibly flimsy

Could you please back up your claims that most people who live in the countryside hate foxes. Have you carried out this research personally, are you relying on a study from elsewhere or did someone you met in the pub happen to mention it?
