Current Affairs The next Tory (strong and stable) leader is Boris Johnson

The thing is though, Abbott is genuinely bad enough to be the counterargument, even to the likes of Grayling.

It's easily solved by Corbyn simply not giving her roles that are obviously above and beyond her ability, because all it does to swing voters is reaffirm the incompetence of the leadership and the party overall.

Thornberry is almost as bad but not quite as obviously so. You can get away with that sort of incompetence - but not Abbott's.
To be clear, I don’t think Abbott should be a front bench MP and I agree that Corbyn has shown real weakness by keeping her there. The point is the tories point and laugh whilst at the same time having the worst front bench in my life time (39 btw)

No, nothing to do with 'gin on a train'. Just a reminder.....

Can you give an example of greater Tory incompetence? Remember, this is the Shadow Home Secretary.

Could also go with Johnson reciting colonial poetry in Myanmar or his blunder with Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe etc etc. But no ‘look at this woman stuttering over police figures’

A blunder reciting poetry is a gaff at worst. It's not going to bankrupt the country.

And it's not like Abbott was only slightly amiss with her figures. She was way out, embarrassingly so. She is a pretender to one of the Great Offices of State, so we should expect better, we should expect much higher standards. She shouldn't stutter about anything and should be well prepared and informed in everything she does, especially when given the chance to prepare in advance.

Not long after this was Emily Thornbury's car crash interview, when the questioning got slightly tough, she had to ask for Kay Burley's for permission to 'reach for her notes'.

God help us.

Come on now, £300,000, then £80M then 25,000 police then 10,000 then 250,000, I mean really, you just cannot defend this imbecile........

Grayling signed a deal for ferries with no ferries involved. When he was Prisons Minister, the number of suicides in the prison system went up by 40%, assaults on staff and prisoners skyrocketed and he banned books from being brought into prison. He deliberately encouraged strikes on Southern Rail, wanted to let their trains with more than a thousand people on have one staff member on board, and awarded them a contract he knew they could not deliver. He let Virgin run off from the East Coast contract, which cost £2bn in missed franchise payments.

Grayling is by any measure worse than Abbott.
