I don’t understand why people get so wound up about this, but tax avoidance is not a criminal offence. Why would any of us pay tax if not legally obliged to do so?

I think its more the manner in which it is "avoided". Making sensible use of existing tax arrangements is fine, changing those arrangements by interfering (usually financially or by promise of subsequent reward) with the law / politicians / HMRC management or employees isn't.

Though even then I think those who knowingly underpay on their tax should not expect to receive as good a service from the state those taxes go to fund as those who don't, or don't have the option to.

Tory boy Boris caught trying to fix the report, well I never, who would have thought, all my days...

Maybe because most people's taxes are automatically deducted from their pay before they get it so they/we have no bloody choice but to pay it. Apologies if that sounds selfish to all.the tax dodgers around. :)

The self employed dont. Which are millions of folk.

Its a deal. We give up SSP, holiday pay, maternity and parenting allowances. Even holidays entitlement. A Minimum wage, employment protection, are not on the deal neither.

In exchange, we can reduce our tax bill, legally, by claiming expenses against the gross income. Some, of course, will edge towards cash in hand jobs etc.

But when I was SE, for 6 years I worked 6 days a week, 52 weeks of the year, (had one off in that period), but would make sure I claimed every penny of every single allowable expense I could.

out of the pathetically predicatable right wing playbook. I'm assuming this will mean increased funding in social programs, homelessness and more criminal rehabilitation policies in prisions and the decriminalisng of cannibis among the many positive things a government could do to create a more inclusive society and reduce crime. Or possibly they could just come out with punitive nonsense that serves no purpose other than to please daily mail readers, I wonder which one it will be
Could they please start with the bungs they took from their mates for Covid PPE contracts, and the Business Support Covid cash that left the country in suitcases. Allegedly.

The Foreign office really want Boris out at the moment, irrelevant to what the head of the FO says, the people within the FO still are very bitter about the handling of Afghanistan.

My impression is they don’t want him there for the Ukraine talks. My friend still says gone by next week. Images have been handed over of the gatherings, the pressure mounts.

“The Gray report is being edited in order not to implicate anyone in the face of the Met Police enquiry. Yes it will be published in full, but not the original full that was first submitted to Downing Street.”

Talk about controlling the narrative. I do wonder how these crooks get away with this, and worse this is what the public voted in!

You know what, my friend hasn’t lied one bit. Fair play to him. I know images were handed over, and the watered down report but 300 of them!

Boris is toast.

I think ITV might have sat on them images since around January 21st/22nd.

Waited for the Met investigation to stop investigating further then boom, mic dropped them just as a warm up for the watered down Gray report.

Great bit of spice coming up this week.
