It's the end of the Big 3 era. LeBron has decided on the Cavs, Bosh will most likely be off to the rockets now and the Heat will begin the rebuilding process, probably with D Wade as they can't really not give him a contract after he opted out for them.
Saw this a couple hours ago... didn't really think it would ever actually happen. Wow!
Apparently they are looking at Kevin Love and might be trading Wiggins for him. I'd love to see a new big three of Love, Lebron and Kyrie. Also I am surprised they didn't release a cheesy video with that song on when his decision was announced.
Apparently he didn't tell anyone beforehand, they found out via the SI article, just like everyone else...
I'd do that and some picks. Wiggins may turn out to be great, but Love is an almost certain HOF player. They won't need the picks anyway (where's the cap space?) so let those go also.
Amusingly they have Miami's pick next year or the year after
Can't see them not walking through the East now without Love
Seems like Miami have to offer him max money, but I wonder what he must be thinking. He can't ignore the failure of the Big Three, nor how bad the Heat will be next year. I've never played at that level and I've never been offered that kind of money, so I have no idea how I would react, but I would certainly be tempted to return home and win.
Personally I wouldn't be suprised if he didn't stay for the $12m or whatever it was. He's already won 3 titles, and I think Miami is almost as much 'home' as Chicago is now. Plus I don't think he'd look back on the Big 3 as a failure. Sure they got beat handily in this year's finals, but they did win 2 titles in 4 years...
Still next year should be pretty interesting now. Hopefully the Bulls can swing something for Melo, or maybe bring in Pau and Mirotic or some other Plan B.
