I think, for the sake of balance. You HAVE to include the season they were in the lowere leagues.

If you dont, it just sounds pathetic. Especially as we where consudered the bigger club, pre 1960's.

Okay, in the 'interests of fairness', as others have been at pains to point out, INCLUDING the seasons when they were in Division 2, we have finished above Liverpool a total of 37 times.

If you don't want to go back to 1937 for the last time we finished above them in two consecutive seasons (76 years ago), and want to include the 8 seasons, 1954 to 1962 as times when we 'finished above them' due to them being in Division 2, then it is 51 years since we last finished above them for 2 consecutive seasons.

51 years is still one hell of a long time for that not to happen, and high time that record was broken.
