had to laugh at Question Time last night, they had a black author on going on about how racist the uk is...

"Boris Johnson is a racist, when he was mayor of London he wouldn't allow a celebration of black history"

er.... aren't you demanding that white history is dragged down? and why can't their just be a 'history celebration' regardless of skin colour?

You had a good old laugh at that, did you mate?

Would have been quite easy to just say 'there is a lot of racism in Ireland' (some people would find the term southern Ireland offensive too, just to be clear) though wouldn't it. Or 'Ireland has some catching up to do with regard to tackling racism'. And yet you chose to use a word which is very regularly used to give offence to the people you're talking about. And then not accept your faux pas. Interesting.
I sometimes use the term Southern Ireland merely to distinguish it from Northern Ireland. I had no idea it was considered offensive.

I can't keep up with all this.

Not everybody would find it offensive, and the ones who would wouldn't think you were a disgrace for saying it, but it's not really the done thing.

yeah, laughed at how ridiculous she sounded.

If it helps, you probably completely misunderstood what she was saying.

Those statues are not historical, so much as historiographical (in that as (ironically) Johnson said they represent another generations views of a thing, not what happened or how the people who carried it out saw it).

Nor is it “white history” being torn down; Colston and his ilk were after all prominent because of their enslaving black people (not that you’d know that from many of the statuary).

Not sure on the name but saw something about a group protesting in the city.

If its BLM I refuse to name them that anymore as it simply isnt about that in the protests in the UK anymore.

Its "lets destroy property, attack der police and smash historical monuments" authoritarian movement.

Plenty of BLM protestors are not destroying property or attacking people. As a fan of a Liverpool based club, and a scouser (I think you are, not sure) does that kind of sweeping generalisation not annoy you?

If it carries on like this there won't be any white people left by the end of 2020.

Spike Lee released one of his black films in Netflix today as well.
