I disputed the following quotes from Hickson.

If you are white you cannot use that word.

If you use the word on this forum in any way, you will be banned.

That's all I did. Both I clarified as incorrect.

What's happened, as usual, is because I'm not falling neatly into a box, I'm classed as "the other", regardless of logic. So if I don't think the word is blanket banned in every and all context, I'm a raving Tory obviously.

In the context of Guy Wilson's dog/the script from Blazing Saddles etc. There's no point using it as there's a swear filter and you can be warned if the "poor language removed" prompt comes up.

But factually, I'd use the word without any issue otherwise in those contexts. The sole reason for me not saying Guy Wilson's dogs' name on here, literally and solely in relation to saying the correct name for the dog, is because of the swear filter - what's wrong with that?

Basically it's the same as Dominic Cummings name being censored from trends on Twitter due to porn filters, so they said Cumminsg or something to get round it.

No idea who he is, from that tweet alone you can pickup he's a bit of a bell but that image is really depressing and an example as to why people were/are foolish to shrug at vandalism as justified when protesting.

It isn’t the same as Cummings name. Yes, it has a context and the idea the word is banned is daft, but raising the context argument on a thread and at a time where racial injustice is both obvious and needs challenging seems to me not the time or the place.

If its BLM I refuse to name them that anymore as it simply isnt about that in the protests in the UK anymore.

Its "lets destroy property, attack der police and smash historical monuments" authoritarian movement.
