This crusade against statues started off as ridiculous and has now entered the surreal, the Irish prime minister is talking about removing a statue of an Irish freedom fighter who fought the British in 1916, why does this statue need to be removed, well because of his links with Germany and his attempts to secure weapons for the IRA from Germany to continue the war against the British and fight for a united Ireland, apparently this means he's a Nazi sympathiser and a racist, but you know what our leader is not talking about? He's not saying that statues around the UK commemorating the British leaders who took over Ireland and caused centuries of bloodshed should be removed, instead we'll remove one of the men who fought against that. And before anyone has a go, the IRA of that time was not the same as the organisation that people would be familiar with now.
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar has said that he thinks Ireland does have a racism problem.
