Current Affairs The Labour Party

If you'd like to win an election from the left, you are allowed a dollop of identity politics but the dollop needs to be served with a hefty helping of answers to the query, "Financially, what's in it for me & mine?" and "Can they be trusted to deliver?".

Maybe the current perception of the party among its previous base, is that the party is more concerned with all sorts of minorities / "faddist" preoccupations and not with them. The accuracy of the perception isn't that important in electoral terms - the inability of the party to get the chatter on to its ground is the real clincher.

They'll lose the next election, the question being whether they can retain sufficient seats to be a credible alternative in 2025.

All of this 'IMO'of course.

....might be a story brewing after today's PMQs. With local councils strapped for Social Care monies a set of leaked texts suggests a 'secret' deal has been done with Surrey council which just happens to be Jeremy Hunts constituency. Watch this space.

Unfortunately it's a well known fact any government Labour or Tory when in power short fund the opposing local authority budget so nothing's new backroom deals on this basis are done it's rare for either government in power to look favourable on opposition local authorities that's from my experience an example when PM Harold Wilson became in power Huyton UDC received massive investment even a road named after him on an industrial estate!

We used to have one of our factories on Wilson Rd.....

Corbyn is great. He has the enviable knack of brining together and winding up Blairites Ukippers, Conservative and Liberals, they go at him with hammers and tongs in their vitriolic attacks, I never thought this part of the political spectrum would find common ground to share on anything.

A man leader of iron gave written warnings instead of sacking his front benchers who voted against a three line whip!
Is he running the Boy Scouts movement?

Now listen here Putin, if you attack the UK just one more time I'm going to send you a really strong letter in CAPITALS........

Hahahaha.......Tom Watson.....

"I would reject the notion that the Labour Party is not a patriotic party.

"We are very proud of our country and we are very proud of singing the national anthem.

"I hope that people know that the Labour party is the party of aspirations. We offer hope and opportunity.

"We want this country to be great. That if you work hard you can eventually own your own home, have a job that is satisfying and make a retirement that is dignified."

You couldn't make this up.....after years of turning their backs on the working class and pushing a metropolitan multi cultural liberal agenda, they now find themselves having to fight UKIP for their 'own' supporters....cynicism is still alive and kicking...... I actually think the above is true, just not aimed at the British people........
