Corbyn himself comes across pretty decently (train gaffe aside) for most observers, but if the best he can do is to appoint the likes of Abbott & McDonnell then they are doomed not just to lose this election heavily, but to consign themselves to years in the political wilderness.

And people who write off Boris as an incompetent baffoon really have no clue.. he's one of the most astute politicians who knows that his scruffy hair and outward bumbling style are actually a part of his charm and the reason why people feel he is relatable.

Quite an interesting shortie.. gives you an idea of where Labour needs to be to where it currently is...

Absolutely spot on about Johnson. Like him or loathe him, he's got one of the most secure seats in the country, he's been the mayor of London, and he now holds one of the top jobs in Government. Very shrewd individual who made one massive miscalculation (even though many on Daily Politics etc were suggesting that to become the next party leader a minister would have to lose on the Leave side to win backbench and grassroots Tory support).

The new game 'Where is that Wally, Johnson'. I know slagging off someone.

Lest not forget what the buffoon wrote in 2004.

"Mayor of London Boris Johnson has apologised for the Hillsborough slurs printed in The Spectator magazine while he was editor.

He said the families of the 96 now deserve “full sympathy” after going through an “absolutely terrible time”.

The current affairs magazine printed an editorial in 2004 which said Hillsborough was “undeniably” a tragedy, but continued: “That is no excuse for Liverpool’s failure to acknowledge, even to this day, the part played in the disaster by drunken fans at the back of the crowd who mindlessly tried to fight their way into the ground that Saturday afternoon.”

It continued: “The police became a convenient scapegoat, and The Sun newspaper a whipping-boy for daring, albeit in a tasteless fashion, to hint at the wider causes of the incident.”

Talking about the attitudes of Liverpudlians, the article added: “They see themselves whenever possible as victims, and resent their victim status; yet at the same time they wallow in it.”

And his 2016 Obama article.

"Churchill’s grandson Nicholas Soames, a Conservative MP backing the remain campaign, called Johnson’s article “appalling” and said it was “inconceivable” that the wartime leader would not have welcomed Obama’s views.

He said Johnson was “unreliable and idle about the facts”, claiming there was still a Churchill bust inside the White House".

Hope to see the invisible man Johnson back in the limelight expressing him imbecility.
The prime minister’s spokeswoman said the decision to remove the Churchill bust was taken before Obama took office".

Is that the Rees-Mogg who shares platforms with known anti Semites?

No idea tbh. But go ahead and demonize the entire Right as racists and scumbags if that's the level of your argument..

I do know that from what I have observed of him I think JRM is probably one of the most internally consistency politicians out there whose political position on key topics are arrived at in an impeccably logical manner. Stuff like calling out Mark Carney on trying to threaten the electorate during the Brexit campaign elevates him, in imo.

- Firstly, at least Boris actually has a fair bit of popularity amongst the electorate.
You're on an Everton forum. This is the same Boris Johnson who's ripped into the city that Everton are from. Come to Liverpool and go round saying that Boris Johnson has some popularity.

Seriously what is it with the Tory nest on here? How has this happened.

I said Boris has a fair bit of popularity amongst the electorate. That is a fact. I didn't mention Liverpool specifically.

Came in this thread to read about the Labour party and it's pages and pages of Tories. This shroud of Tory darkness can't be escaped it seems.

Will be interesting how they hold up in Scotland tonight. It's the only area voting today which I think might give clear signs for next months general. My gut is that there might be quite a few angry labour councillors up there this time tomorrow.

At least she shows signs of being human which is more than can be said of the horrible lizards in the Tory party.

They are just people like you......anyway I thought you were complaining about reading about the tories, then raise the subject yourself.....
