I'm a great believer in whole life education and training and
I agree that it needs another shake up, but just putting the cost back onto the general taxpayer will only make it worse.....

It hasn't in other countries though has it? I think most people's experience of it has been service has gone down and price gone up post privatisation (which makes sense as we now have to find the profits of companies).

I can understand the idea of why find something that only a minority of people use. However I can't say I'm massively bought on the idea anyone, government or not can run the rails any worse than private businesses like Southern!

Have you paid those tuition fees back yet. There are starving people on the streets who need that money.......
What's the matter need glasses to see the response I have already given you ? You really have lost it. You are getting battered here.

Less than 2% of single parents are teenage,66 % of single parents are in work, the average age of a single parent is 38 so it doesnt quite add up to vast amounts of young girls taking housing does it
So they should all get houses paid for by taxpayers because?

So have you paid your tuition fees back yet. They would pay the rent on a house for a young mum for a couple of years..........

The rail service is already nationalised here in Northern Ireland but I can't stress enough how atrocious the service is. It's late at least two mornings a week, it costs more than it would to drive, it's full of over 65s every rush hour on their free travel passes. Also, there are no late trains home, no links to either airport, and you can't even pay by card!!

Is this really the best you can do? Repeat a question that's already been answered? You have been well and truly beaten into submission.

Did you even read it? I would if I were you. The cognitive dissonance needed to read it and still vote Labour is immense. It would bankrupt us.

That wouldn't matter. They still vote for Labour no matter what. People in Liverpool are up in arms about having some young union bag carrier foisted onto them as a candidate instead of two Liverpool people (mayor and an MEP), but will that make a difference ? No just plonk a red rosette on it and it gets a 20,000 majority.....Politics for the thinking man, and woman.....

... and yet I'd be willing to bet that May's strong and stable government ends up paying more than all of that would cost. I'll also be willing to bet that you'll be on here excusing it.

Have you paid your tuition fees back yet, the money you owe would pay for about 15,000 meals for the elderly or unemployed......

I'll have a look for you mate. I'm sure I read the fares paid in Germany/France/Spain are a fraction of what we pay. I thought that seemed common knowledge?

As for the service I am basing much of my prognosis on the south east and particularly southern rail. I haven't figured to hand but I'd be amazed if many other rails franchises anywhere in the world have had as many cancellations. I've had meetings in London missed because the train stopped half way.

I'll have a look for some figures, but are you in disagreement with the general substance of the post?

I'm ambivalent really, but think that a) good management matters more than whether something is public or private, and b) we should be using evidence to support decisions where possible rather than doctrine.
