Keir the Copper

Ha Ha Ha Ha.

One step forward two steps back. Good old Keith, the rapists mate.

I feel for him. He's in such a cleft stick situation: having to appease his own soft/centre-left ninnies in his own party who'd rebel over this one thing, and courting the mill town nazis he wants the LP to appeal to.

Heavy is the head that wears the crown, eh?

Mike Hill has resigned as MP for Hartlepool with immediate effect. Get ready for a by-election in the heart of 'red wall' country - the stuff of nightmares for Sir Keir!

Majority of 3,500 at the last election when he would have undoubtedly lost had not the Brexit candidate recorded 10,500 votes.

Mmmm, can't tell the difference between a monkey and a spy...what an acid test.

Perhaps, though a lot of those BP votes would still be people who’d be unlikely to vote Tory.

Labour have to pick the right candidate for that - someone local and independently minded would probably take that seat easily; some golden child of the bubble would probably get battered.

Yes, you're right they wouldn't all have voted Tory - most probably wouldn't have voted at all - but I suspect enough would have to topple the Labour candidate.

As for the new candidate, the left would surely love to get Pidcock back in parliament, but I doubt Sir Keir would be keen. Perhaps he'll take advice from his new best mate and former Hartlepool MP, Mandy, before parachuting someone in!

So... David miliband?

Starmer's team in Hartlepool : sidelined the local CLP and installed their own candidate to fight the by-election.

Lol.

Just 'kin leave.

Will be interesting to see where that Brexit party vote goes... No doubt will be the overriding issue considering the votes they garnered. Will Mandelson be able sprinkle some sparkle on his old comfortable seat, Dr Williams is a good headline choice for Labour candidate, although recent ousted from previous seat over Brexit.
