I don't have a fondness for it to be honest mate. You're right to say, pretty horrendous institutions that entrenched inequality and a middle class culutural superiority.
All evidence suggests that we have better learners, and better people when we learn in "mixed ability" settings. So even if they did the M.O (which they don't, as it's a test of how middle class you are) of hoarding off the brightest it doesn't work pedagogically for those kids or the rest of society. It also, in all honesty doesn't help build well rounded individuals.

That point 2 is an abusers charter, it really is. It's completely unnecessary. Like point 1 & 3 I disgree with but I can understand. They are about anti-semitism. Point 2 is about how they have ran the process. Why are they lumping that in on the back of anti-semitism? If you were serious in your response, and serious about anti-semitism, you'd have the view "look say what you want about us, but apologise for any hurt to Jewish people you've caused". It shows how shallow this all is.
This is just Starmer and his people wanting to clamp down on any dissent of him.
He's really working class though. He's like that tit Ben Bradfield who has got himself to chair the "blue collar" Conserative association, when he also went to private school. If you went to private school, fair enough, but don't try and kid people that you're some working class hero. It's just slumming it.

No, I don't think grammar schools are elitist, for the simple reason that to get there in the first place (when I sat the 11+) you got there on ability. Nothing else. There was a complete cross-section of lads there, from all levels of society. From the posh lads, to me from Kirkdale living in a two-up two-down with an outside loo, to others who lived in even worse conditions. Elitist? Don't make me laugh!
Your problem is that you have a 'dog-in-the-manger' attitude (look it up!), and despise anyone who has had anything like a decent education.
