There is an awful, awful lot of boosting of them going on still and it is not always obvious.

As an example, I was at work earlier and we had Gold (or some such crap) on the radio in the office. One of the early morning news reports said (and apologies if its not word for word) that the government had guaranteed that students doing BTEC would get their results on time, next week. This is despite the BTEC results being due today.
No one cares though do they. It’s all about brexit now and the promise of less foreigners and no more ‘meddling Eu bureaucrats’ Even with what we know now, doubt any tories would change their votes from the last election.

Yes, and thats what people have been told over and over again.

The fact it makes no sense - that the Tories have been in charge of immigration for ten years now, for example - doesn't matter; its repeated across multiple platforms on a daily or even hourly basis. Creatures like Farage and the scum of the commentariat make their living out of getting people scared and stupid, and they work with regimes who want the people of this country to be scared and stupid.

shock news!

Tom Watson, the former Labour MP who was one of parliament’s most virulent campaigners for gambling reform, has joined the world’s largest online betting company as an adviser.

Flutter Entertainment, which owns Paddy Power, Betfair and SkyBet, said it would pay Watson a retainer, understood to be less than £100,000, to advise it on tackling problem gambling.

Watson’s appointment comes ahead of the launch later this year of a government review of gambling law, which could result in sweeping changes to the regulation of the industry.

“I have a longstanding interest in this sector and have consistently called for action to protect those who may be potentially vulnerable to harm,” said Watson. “In taking on this role in Flutter, I intend to get under the bonnet of the business – and the industry more widely – to understand how best to further develop and implement industry-leading responsible gambling policies.

“I strongly believe that working collaboratively with Flutter in this way will allow me to continue to drive positive change.”

:D

That's the type of vermin who worked tirelessly to get Corbyn out of the leader's chair.

There's loads like him in that PLP. Neo-liberal free marketeers masquerading as Labour.

Rather less than there was - what with him, Dugher and Hunt getting plum jobs for which they were eminently qualified, Woodcock / Austin ennobled (edit: and Mann) and Umunna / Berger off doing PR things.

Underlines the level of virulent anti-socialist scum in the PLP....but they are the tip of the iceberg. For example, Ian Murray the Tory-lite Scottish Labour MP.

And they are emboldened now by having one of their own as leader.

Don't agree with that - for a start, that shower demonstrated their political incompetence repeatedly wheras Starmer has showed at least a glimmer of not being useless.

By doing what? Offering no vision of the future?

If the polls have narrowed its because of a government on the ropes over Covid19 not anything Starmer's Labour have done.

Why do they need to offer a vision of the future four years before an election, and when we are faced with the crisis of the century so far? Noone is going to listen at the moment.

The time to do it is when its obvious where this government has led us, with this track and trace system especially.
