It is kind of mad that Tubey has spent two or three pages insisting (or appearing to believe at any rate) that only the far left is antisemitic, when loads of people on the right (including Tory MPs) are busily engaged in blaming a rich Jewish financier for being behind everything, whilst also going around pushing the idea that there is a global elite that targets kids.

New party needed. Hundreds of thousands of members from the LP defecting to it plus the left unions financing it - that'd utterly crater Starmer's new New Labour.

The parties for the entryists to go back to already exist Dave, Communist Party, Socialist/SWP, and the like. The majority of moderate Labour voters would I'm sure be happy with this and those that moved from Corbyn's Labour will most likely move back from the Conservatives.

I just hope Starmer gets the phoney sentencing guidelines sorted out should he be our next PM.

Read today that a 16 year old who killed a 61 year old by stamping on his head and severing his spinal cord from his neck recieved just 11 years in prison.

Therefore he'll be out after serving just 5.5 years.

Thats what the cost of a human life is these days in the UK - 5.5 years.

The courts need a massive shake up.

The lads been convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison with a minimum tariff of 11 years meaning , as I understand it , he’ll do 11 years before he’s eligible for parole . That doesn’t mean he’ll be released after 11 years and as I see it certainly not after 5 1/2 but he’s eligible for release then although he’d be on life licence and could be recalled any time .

now we can argue about courts and the like but as I see it he was sentenced to life imprisonment not 51/2 years so to me not as harsh as some would like but hardly a slap on the wrist . I also accept you’ll disagree but rightly or wrongly the legal system views him as a ‘child’ (see begum thread ) so a minimum of 11 years feels in tune with that . keep in mind as I understand it it’s entirely possible he could still be in nick in 15 years and even if released will be subject to some pretty stringent restrictions

minimum 11 years equals very much that mate. Prisons cant afford to keep people in unless they are too high profile to risk public backlash if they ever tried releasing earlier.

He'll be out aged 27 to live out the rest of his days whilst the victims family have a life sentence.

Lad I used to knock about with as a kid done about 4-5 years for manslaughter a few years back and has always been a wrongun - see him pop up on social media every now and again with his missus pictured in bars/restaurants all smiles and the like whilst the poor fella he done in had his life taken away in his mid 20's.

The court system needs to be funded correctly.

It's a total shambles due to under funding.

did you read what I wrote mate ? No offence but this is like a @Joey66 reply or a politician where he doesn’t bother to read the reply and sticks to the argument that they want to have .

To be clear like all murders the sentence is life with a minimum of 11 years which I get your angry at I presume half as angry as you were 10 minutes ago when you said it was 5.5 years . The sentence is a minimum Not the sentence so could it have been more , of course but it doesn’t mean he’ll be out in 11 years .

As regards the judge he’s sentenced the lad to life , I presume also taken into account the guidelines he has to follow for the minimum including the age . I’m not sure what the judge has done wrong to be honest , it could of course been a higher minimum but What would you be Have been happy with ? So if he’d said 15 years is a life worth that , how about 20 ?

It seems to be a horrible brutal murder and he’s rightly in nick for murder , where he’ll still be in 2030 and very probably long after that . Sentencing can be a mess but the judge has given him life the lad will always been on life licence if he’s ever released , in this country we simply don’t jail everyone for ‘life means life ‘ when they’re convicted of murder . We don’t and haven’t done for a very long time if ever if you want that to change campaign for it or lobby but it’s not the judges fault or kier starmers.

(Sorry for @ you joey but I know you get angry if you’re mentioned and nobody does it just felt appropriate . Mostly we argued loads about this very thing back in the day in the EU thread )
