Not being funny, but are Labour really squabbling over the anti-semetic content of that article? Can’t we see a bigger issue here?

The whole fvcking article is absolutely insanely bonkers from an obviously very bitter loony left. The problem is not anti-semitism here, the problem is that you have idiots on your front bench willing to openly endorse these openly communist views who say “anyone who didn’t vote Corbyn is a Tory.” Way to go, nice reaching out to the middle ground there.

Starmer is right to sack her... because she’s clearly a lunatic toxic hard left socialist nutcase.

The knee on the neck thing is very much a Krav Maga technique. Krav Maga is a military fighting system used by Israeli special forces. The main principal behind it is that an unarmed person who has to defend them self against someone with a weapon, much of it is about knife disarms, gun disarms and the such like. It's a very ruthless self defense system and it encourages things such as eye gouges, kneeling on the neck, proper choke outs (unlike in jiu jitsu were you just knock someone out for a few seconds)
Given that the IDF have spent time training certain US Police departments i have no doubt this will be origin of this tactic and even more so given how militarized the Police seem to be over there. I have done a bit of Krav Maga in the past and whilst not the greatest thing to use in a street fight i certainly don't think it or any part of it has any place on the street by anyone public or Police, it was designed for the battlefield and should stay there.

Wrong.

Was being used before then, was not the origin of the tactic.

Blair did some good things but he basically carried on the Thatcher agenda of privatisation , pfi projects plus got us involved in a disastrous war in the middle east , im not sure thats centre ground politics
Blair achieved his main objective - he became a multi-millionaire. The current Labour Party, instead of being the 'opposition party', are busy fighting internal wars. Boris must be sleeping soundly.

I consider myself to be fairly left wing in terms of the Labour Party, I certainly believe in a socialist agenda being placed in front of the electorate rather than some sort of Conservatism light just to get elected.
Having said that the people putting forward that socialism have to be credible politicians and not someone who is easily depicted as a looney. We have a looney as PM it shouldn’t be that difficult to get sensible people on your front bench to show him up as such. For that reason I think Starmer was correct to sack her, the Labour Party needs to stick to it’s socialist principles but needs creditable people to put those principles across and stop providing the Tory press with easy targets.
I have to say it was refreshing to see someone being held responsible for their actions.

TBF it would have been far more difficult for Starmer to do that if the left hadn't (a) refused to admit what Peake said was wrong (or even understood why other people saw it as wrong) and (b) demanded that RLB be given her job back, something that would destroy Starmer.

What should have happened is that Starmer should have been told that for the sake of unity, whoever RLB's replacement was should come from the left of the party as a show of good faith. Instead, it seems we are going to go down the road of RLB or nothing, and get nothing.

I feel so let down by RLB and I think everyone who’s supported her should, instead of blindly defending her.

She’s let us all down. We need people like her to be at the front of the party, but they continue to let us down.

People can protest or do as the professionals, and work on the geopolitics. As Nandy and Starmer are showing...

Anyone who think RLB is a commie isn’t in the middle ground. Anyone who thinks she’s lunatic hard left socialist nutcase isn’t the middle ground. And since when was this middle ground so fought over rather than actually standing for something?

Or were Labour going to lose the next election because people wouldn’t vote for them because 4 years earlier the shadow education secretary had retweeted an article by an actor?
