Rachel Reeves continues on in her role despite numerous glowing posts about noted anti semite Nancy Astor.
This is a political taking down.

Itls the starting gun for a war on the left. Well there's two sides in every war. If that's what Starmer wants he'll get it.

She didn't do that, though. Peake said the US cops learnt how to kneel on the neck of a black man off the Israelis; to actually say that requires a level of ignorance of what the US state has done to black communities over hundreds of years that is frankly hard to fathom, and then you have to wonder why on earth the Israelis have got involved in the sentence anyway.

That its cost RLB her SC position is terrible.
Ah...misread her interview comments..you are right..but USA police have received training from the Israeli military..in that case why is Rachel Reeves still in starmer's shadow team?

Very clumsy retweet. And then started to play silly beggers with clarification. Discipline Discipline Discipline.

Itls ninsense. There are many many instances of racism against black people in the LP and they are not met with sackings.

This was the pretext the launch of a war against the left in the LP from a man too weak to stand up to the Tories at a time when they're there for the taking.

If youlre in the LP I have no idea why. Your views are alien to it. Criticism of the apartheid Israeli state are legitimate within the LP. Starmer is the alien.

Instead of binning Long-Bailey right away, he'd have been better taking the opportunity to have an open debate in the party - perhaps at conference - to finally sort out the dilemma here i.e. Is it or is it not anti-semitic to make negative remarks concerning the nation known as Israel?

It's a perfectly valid question and it confuses not just Labour people. Now of course the media will be all over it like when Corbyn was in charge and that's a distraction when Starmer has bumbling Boris pinned to the dart board.

Gloves off.

They want this and the whole of the left need to mobilise and shut this down.

Go for it mate.

It'll just strengthen his position - that he was willing to sacrifice short term party unity and not pander to extremists so as to shut down the poison of anti-semitism.

Of course it is, but that's not what happened. The insinuation was the Zionists had taught US police how to murder black people. It's a cut and dry case of anti-semitism; there's nothing confusing about it, unless you actively want it to be confusing so as to hide anti-semitism.

What do you think of the article shared by Moomin? It is not anti-semitic to criticise the state of Israel.

Can't recall any of Starmers ministers making racsist comments...

Keeping rotten known Tories in their key and ministerial positions is clearly a strategy, of keeping the story alive... Its a long time to the next election.

And yes LP member, very much my own person. Bailey needs to learn not to become the story, hopefully it's a lesson more will now learn!

"Training" covers an awful lot though - to take one example, the recording software that a lot of police forces, fire brigades and general call-centres use is made by an Israeli firm (called NICE - I don't know if anyone here uses them?)

Sending one person per police agency to Israel to learn how to use the software and then train others in their agency - which is unlikely, but not impossible for at least some to do that, given how much money these agencies have to spend on equipment and how many people would want to have a jolly over there at the mans expense - would mean nearly 18000 people.

Indeed, but let me put it this way - the two statements below are different.

I am critical of the tactics of Israel in regards to aggressive policing. I don't believe Baltimore PD should take lessons from them.

The Israelis taught Baltimore PD how to kill black people.

One of the above is criticism. The other is anti-semitic conspiracy theory.

Peake did the latter; RLB endorsed it.
