So people under a certain level should be able to take a full bonus without it being taxed or taken into consideration? What about people that are paid on commission but have base pay rates that fall under the threshold, should they also get that free?
No

So what exactly is his point? Shouldn’t he have used the speech to point out rather than making token bonus gestures that Greggs should actually look at paying their staff a wage that doesn’t result in them needing to also claim from the state to survive?

As I said earlier it is how high the taper is, that was clearly his point

This is ridiculous. Phillips had the guts to highlight the issue of mainly Pakistani men abusing young children in Northern towns en mssse and he now cops a suspension.

It really does make me question my own position as member of the party when someone as great and courageous as Phillips is being suspended for nonsensical reasons.

As a former Labour party member, I empathise. The party, and the Left in general, have completely lost it over recent years. Tbh I feel a greater sense of freedom since becoming more politically independent.

I get that a very large proportion of our voting base comes from the South Asian demographic so Labour does not want to upset it, which for me plays into the bigotry of low expectations. How dare those high up in the party think that the decent people who make up the vast majority of that particular demographic do not want these men brought to justice for their heinous crimes. Why are local councils, police and other local authorities giving these men a free pass to do as they please without any consequence? From the last cases reported in January, why did Jacqui Smith, back when she was Home Secretary conclude with the then PM, Gordon Brown, that it was not worthy of consideration or inspection? Why are we consistently failing and damning these young, vulnerable children?

However, it is also a societal issue and one that must be addressed without burying our head in the sand. Why do these men consider young children from working class communities to be 'easy meat'. What could possibly lead to that idea?

Your about 5 years too late with that view and it was not the case that police social services just let these men continue deviant behaviour they had no idea what they were actually dealing with at that time they were all geared up dealing with the white lone wolf predators.

And quite how our judiciary escapes all this is unbelievable, they happily convicted somemof these victims as children for prostituting, put them on sex registers etc. Which they are still fighting to quash right now. This should always be about the victims and im afraid it's far to often about other agenda's...

It's easy to castigate services, I worked in children social services before all this grooming gangs became public knowledge, you try stopping a coherced child that the person they are telling you they love, is a criminal, you try stopping them leaving a safe house to meet up with them, see who gets arrested!?

He won't be politically homeless for long I'm sure the Tories will welcome him.
