Current Affairs The Labour Party

Funnily enough, I felt the same way as you before Corbyn became leader of the Labour Party.

The difference is though mate you are probably already in a safe labour seat(?) so your vote doesn't do much but increase a huge majority. It is the turning away/or engagement of the Labour supporters in marginal seats that is going to count here.

And there are a lot of us on the forum that are/were Labour supporters that feel the opposite to you.

Im a no one supporter, and if they reckon I might be tempted to vote for them after today, well, unlikely. Being kind.

I am marooned politically.
Go Green.

Once Brexit has been decided one way or another, my future votes are going with them. At least they have some policies I can support.

Oh, was it a serious question? You seemed mostly interested in picking a fight, so I thought I'd let you cool off for a bit.

Yes, the poll I quoted suggests that there is a significant majority of support for eliminating tax exemptions on private schools: https://yougov.co.uk/topics/politic...g-public-support-tackling-private-school-tax-

Granted, it is obviously just a poll, from a few years back, but I don't think there's any reason to doubt the sentiment still holds.

I would be curious to see if you can find a Labour economic policy which does not enjoy broad public support.
lol lol Come bowling in here like fire and brimstone because people aren’t backing Corbyn, but trying to take the upper hand. Some chin there!

Anyway, That’s not what you posted. You posted something talking about if people supported nationalising or privatisation of state (or previously state owned) services. It has nothing to do with what you claim it does.

Please tell whoever’s written your Corbyn street team debate handbook that it’s need significant improvements.

Fair enough but it's all speculation at the moment. Who knows how many voters will turn to Labour compared to those that turn away in the next GE?

All of which is beside the point, as I was only commenting on my own sense of political engagement.

Are private schools unfair? Yes, but they’re only a symptom of an unjust society. Banning them won’t change anything apart from the house prices in the areas which have ‘the best’ state schools. The rich will occupy the most powerful positions in the country regardless of whether they go to private school. We need to look at a broader range of inequality before focusing on that issue in particular.

Absolutely spot on.

It will be tax loop holes and charitable status that these so called private schools exploit which will be abolished. Its amusing the online Labour voter frothing at the mouth at such measure, nanny will have to nurse them calm.

Do you have kids?

There are so many of us who are energised by this Labour Party though. Imagine where we would be now if Corbyn hadn't won in 2015. Probably still supporting austerity.

I know and that was a good point that you made that you have now found a political home, so it's not all going wrong for Labour. But for people that do not want this Tory government in office we have to hope there are more like you than the ones being turned off.

The next polls should be very interesting. I can see the Lib Dems going comfortably clear of Labour.
With your lying flip flipping Tory sympathizer Swinson? If you think Labour are now irrelevant, your lot don't even registet.....fine words you spout but like your party, no substance.

I believe the honest truth is even if Miliband was still in charge he would have a very good chance of getting a enough seats to make them the largest party - still without an outright majority though.

The Tories have left an open goal but Labour are playing it around the back four.

They will be lucky to return with the seats they have now. I can´t fathom where people´s logic for the Lib Dems running a successful GE comes from. Where are they targeting? The Tory Brexit stronghold which is the south of England or the cities that are not going to turn away from Labour?

If we had proportional representation then they´d stand a better chance but in this system? They´re asking for a miracle. Especially with a flagship policy which immediately alienates at least 50% of the electorate.

Found a nice original clip of the foundation of The NHS by Labour MP Bevan, and note the great foundation it stood for - however 70 years old, its still going lets hope it stays that way - note the words its not a "charity".... -

Shame we've lost most of the dental and nursing care.

Won't be long before all the medical care is gone too.
